Again, fuck them for not putting in the time for the game they wouldn't even be able to make a cent from, right? Something like SRB2 is an exceptional outlier, not the norm. Some of those issues you mention can be tweaked. Like the speed doesn't need to be as high, specially if the level isn't as big. Gravity can be heavier to not have the player fly across the level. You could even take some cues from the Rush games and how you can do tricks in the air Tony Hawk style which could fill up a meter to allow extra moves to be unlocked.
