The thing about this is the total cost of development, printing the copies and marketing it had, kcd2 is made by an small team too and still costed over 50 million to develop without advertising costs, so they would really need to sell around 2 million copies digitally at western prices for them to really not consider it a complete failure.
Have in mind that physical store are most probably barely paying 45 euros tops for this 70 euro game, and that has the costs associated of getting the game printed and shipped to the store and the distributor costs.
