I'm pretty sure human magic has more restrictions than Monster magic, since Frisk NEVER uses it.
Kris has a magic stat of 0 but equipment can increase it, so it stands to reason there is magic-based stuff for humans that Kris tried to find via the internet but couldn't - he doesn't have anyone to teach him Human magic out in monstertown.

Undertale states humans can't do magic at all, but monsters have no way of knowing whether they can or can't after millennia of Underground imprisonment, their sole sources of human contact are whatever junk falls through into the Underground through drainage ditches and other waste processing. Frisk is not able to personally perform magic, but a Magic combat option was a scrapped early element of Undertale's UI. If humans possess magic I think it's either a very learned skill, whereas it comes naturally to monsters, and it was simply lost to time, OR it's a special function of having a boss monster soul as an inversion of Asriel's transformation and ability to easily kill large swathes of humans with just one soul

I get that, I mean it's better storytelling if we know what happened to Dess (i.e. she is not dead) before we meet the Knight. Because if you can immediately make that clear connection then all further evidence can be incredibly dark or sad as we learn it from Noelle, Carol or Rudy.

Like I think it would have had so much more impact if Kris kinda tried to tell Susie to put down the guitar before Carol reamed her out - out of a sense that Kris knew how sensitive Carol was about Dess. I just wish that more effort was made to show that Kris was very close to the Holiday family so we can interpret that creepy "you are welcome here any time" statement as possibly not creepy.

Actually, speaking about the knight - It's possible Rudy was a knight in Undertale due to monster/human war, and would be taken out by his own illness. I mean, he's Asgore's bestie so there' no reason for him NOT to fight.
That doesn't mean he's THE Knight, but it is interesting context since we never actually see December as a member of the Royal Guard in Undertale even though Asgore WOULD be close to the holidays and her dad basically was the king's bestie

I dunno, Undertale took place some indeterminedly long time ago that Gerson was in his prime and Chara was stated to live in a village, but monsters don't have defined lifespans outside of Boss Monsters being immortal unless they have children (Asriel's death locked Toriel and Asgore's ages forever, Gerson also says this) so Toriel and Asgore can't be used as a yardstick, Asriel was born recently enough that Toriel was recording things on VHS when she was pregnant with him, and Chara wandered in wearing modern trousers and shirts. Considering Rudy's own status as only canonical to Undertale because of an alarm clock app's dialogue that never got finished it's weird where he's supposed to fit in there. The only thing really known for sure is Dess is alive in Undertale's continuity, their friendship was recent enough that his daughters are still alive, and Asgore knew Rudy when Rudy was very young all the way up until his death of natural causes

But really, it has one of the most memorable casts in recent gaming history. The random NPCs that don't even matter even have memorable quotes. Pick two spades and go in between them while hugging the wall. It's easiest if you can do this with the first two that move, because you'll have more time to reposition for the next wave when the spades from the other side of the circle pass you.

The difference with Kris is he's stayed with the same family his entire life as far back as he can remember, and there's implications he's related to what's going on in the bunker, plus Hometown is tiny so it's more understandable that he could be the only human in town. With Susie either she was born to a monster family that's moved around a lot and has only recently moved to Hometown, or she was bounced around foster homes and only recently ended up with a monster family in Hometown.

Why is it weird? Nothing said or implied that humans and monsters couldn't have kids in Undertale, and in Deltarune there are even less physical differences between the two races.

Anyways if you want a different explanation, I'll give you one. If you've ever seen the anime The Big O. A major plot point later in the series is that the protagonist, Roger, has an identity crisis where he believes his entire personality is just a copy of a person who died 40 years prior brain washed onto some poor orphan's brain. Then later than that its revealed that he wasn't part of the memory copying program. Yet he still has memories from 40 years ago, and is even shown in photos from 40 years prior. So the next twist is that he thinks he's an android. But he's shown to bleed, and never reacts to magnets, which are both things androids do in that series. Finally, the last reveal is given. The entire world and its history was all part of one big show, and the reason all the characters have memories from the past, and why the past seems to be so inconsistent is that it was all made up for the purpose of the story and keeps getting rewritten. Roger has multiple different back stories, but the author could never settle on one to use, so his past is left nebulous. He bleeds like a human, but existed 40 years ago, but also isn't a copy. And yet at the same time he is.

Susie could be something like this. Some cosmic plothole that has been created by retcons and rewrites. We know she was a human in an earlier draft of the story. We know Toby loves this kind of meta stuff, and there's things in the files that hint at all of the story's events happening before.

Tricky Tony's last act will be to never actually explain monster blood, causing the fanbase to devolve into anarchy
