People who never played FFX forget that the game actually had an affection mechanic a lot like FF7. Whenever some major story event occurs and the party is standing around, the order in which you interact with the women will increase their affection ranking with you.

Whoever is the most affection will vocally stand up for you later in the game and then lead the way jumping off the airship, despite the fact that the main story is clearly written for Yuna and Tidus to be a couple.

I think that had a lot to do with it; Chappu came back but he was on like a divine mission to save everyone and then vanish once more, and during that time Yuna fell in love with him and he returned the feelings so Lulu and Wakka could definitely see that as Chappu giving them their blessings to move on with their lives.

for absolute endgame you use quick attacks to do damage and nothing really matters besides what the skills are on your ultimate defense-piercing weapon. nope. there is a hidden defense pierce property on regular attacks with celestial weapons that makes them much, much better against the strongest enemies in the arena and optional superbosses than any crafted weapon. Those bosses are all immune to defense-down effects so there is no other way to bypass their high defense stats

the overdrives lose this defense pierce, so they are ultimately going to become very weak as you fight the stuff with the highest stats. Against those you use the quick attack command with their celestial weapon to get lots of regular attacks that completely pierce defense
