Should I get into counter strike?
I wanted to get more into counter strike but honestly from what I have been told by friends, its very aim intensive obviously. Also, from my own knowledge, the game basically boils down to the use of like 3-4 guns right? The AK, M4 and AWP? What is the point of all the other guns then? Also, how much practice do you need to be "decent" in CS2? I have heard all sorts of weird markers like "You will need at least 200 hours on AK and M4 separately" before you can even think about playing ranked. What is the truth though? What do you guys think? Is CS worth getting into?

I really don't think it's all about the aim, it's about using utility & positioning to make the fight unfair. The other guns are to give you options while balancing your economy, if I'm buying, I want a full utility set and will sacrifice an AK or M4.

Playing in America? Oh, yeah it's all about the aim.
Maybe bring some like-minded friends to destroy morons.

You need everything aim, mechanics knowledge of nades, smokes, bomb plants etc. map knowledge. You can get pretty far with just angle holding and outsmarting post bomb plants scenarios but as you get up higher aim and teamwork become more important because your opponents will be smarter and have the practice of being a decent rifler

I wish the aiming wasn't so aids. Thats what really gets me. I am also really bugged out that certain guns are basically "meme" tier OR have a very very specific niche that they are used in. Like both LMG's(my favorite kind of gun in shooters) are both meme tier basically.

If you like competitive games, yes. CS is the best one out there because it's basic as fuck. You can outsmart the all aim no brain players so having insane aim is not a guaranteed way to get wins. The game is wonky for old players but if you never plays a CS game, it'll probably be great.

I get what you are saying but at low ranks, anything is viable. All weapons in the shit tier (SMGs/LMGs/Shotguns) are economic weapons so you should use them to make cash, you can do that by getting a read of the game and know when the enemy team will have to do an eco round (not buy anything so they can afford equipment next round).

To be decent at Counter-Strike you need to learn a few guns' recoil patterns, and useful smokes for every map, and callouts, and common angles, and that's the kind of busywork I'm through spending time on in my advanced age desu

Yeah it's something to feel good about at the very least from practicing and playing for a long time. Very good feeling outplaying and winning a post plant on CT side solo with 2+ terrorists still up. This can probably be a metric to know how good you've gotten because it's a fast paced utilization of mechanics+aim+map knowledge and you really shine when you're flowing good

A lot. Actually playing the game doesn't give you too many opportunities to practice aim/throws, many rounds you'll get killed before firing a single meaningful shot. You need to go into a practice map and do it over and over it's pretty lame.

>What is the point of all the other guns
Economy and personal preference. Or salt farming
>Also, how much practice do you need to be "decent" in CS2?
500 minimum if you actively try to learn the game and didn't fuck around in community servers like you were able to in CSGO
>I have heard all sorts of weird markers like "You will need at least 200 hours on AK and M4 separately" before you can even think about playing ranked
Just don't be retarded and look up beginners guides
>What is the truth though? What do you guys think? Is CS worth getting into?
It's a great game when things go right, unfortunately cheating apes and Valve being total mongoloids about that issue, Source 2 movement feel, and focusing on skins makes it a terrible environment to get into. I mostly only check in to watch the majors.

I'm sorry, but I'm a dumbshit and can't really articulate the issue since it's something you had to play CSGO to know, but sub-tick's just made everything feel less... snappier? CS2's movement feels off because when you press a key, the timing inside the tick actually affects how much acceleration you get. Like, if you press W at 30% into the tick vs 70%, your initial speed impulse is different, sometimes too much, sometimes too little, and it corrects later, which feels inconsistent. On top of that, friction kicks in a tick later than it should, so deceleration is also delayed. All this makes things feel really fucking weird, like I'm walking on vaseline.

And it basically killed surf servers since you literally can't move forward on the ramps anymore LOL, thanks valve

"The game is not fun, it is not rewarding to play, you will not enjoy yourself, you will not make any significant progress in the complete abortion of a competitive ladder, and you will hate yourself because of it. You will spend your practice time either alone wishing you didn't care, or surrounded by players better than you that would rather call you a retard than actually offer any tangible piece of useful advice. You will spend your 'real' play time surrounded by people who have clearly not put in the practice you have, or at least don't seem to put it to use, and wonder why you ever bothered in the first place.
This game is a broken pile of neglected piece of shit with no redeeming qualities, barring an unintended engine exploit dating back to 1996, that the current devs have tried their best to kill anyways.
Do not play this game if you value your time, your mental health, your money, or your morality."

The draw is that you know the game will be around in 10 years so it is worth putting effort in. You can grind other FPS similarly hard for them to die in less than 5 years or so. And the game can be genuinely fun when all the stars align and you get a competitive game with balanced teams and teammates that aren't retarded subhumans

It's a shame I can't get my friends interested in this game no matter how hard I try.
I've played very little of it and can't really hang at all in ranked. Well, that and I just generally prefer more casual FPS games with larger team sizes.

Yea same. I'll keep playing it even though I think it's worse than CSGO because the core gameplay is still there.

I doubt there are as many cheaters as people claim there are. It's a fact that humans do not like admitting they are worse than others in anything. Always the game being shit or cheaters because I could not possibly be worse than "jeeb" on the other side.
Not saying there aren't cheaters, just saying people are using it as a scapegoat for them being bad (although subtick system does make plays look even more suspicious than before). Sad thing is that even it Valve completely killed all cheaters on Earth, the damage has already been done and no one trusts the game anymore. People will complain others are cheating no matter what.

There is a ton of cheaters and all the "pro" teams cheats in tournaments

No, nu-CS is a soulless mix gambling and sucking off "pros"

There are cheaters. but 99.9% of those posts are from shitters. I have several pages of comments calling me a cheater on my profile just because I whooped their ass.

I have played thousands of hours of competitive cs in my lifetime. At it's core, the gameplay has the potential to be incredible. In reality, the subtick system and cheaters ruin the game. Easily 75% of games will have at least one cheater in the lobby. Subtick is inferior to 128 tick servers (and even 64 tick, lol) in every way. So much squandered potential with CS. LAN games are the only ones where it all comes together and is truly perfect.

Kernel level is already defeated. Money is the only barrier. DMA card + firmware can reach a couple thousand USD, but can bypass anything.

Maybe, but that clip has nothing to do with cheating.
If you've played CS for tens of thousands of hours, you know every single map, corner and camp spot like your own pockets and you can take lucky potshots at hotspots people camp.
