The switch versions that can be jailbroken by software are the first version ones, which are extremely rare now, every other model needs a physical modchip which is fairly hard to install, especially without microsoldering experience.

The main reason Retro got Prime was due to their work on Remastered which probably saved Prime 4 in general since even Nintendo said it wasn’t good under Bamco. Nintendo never made PC drivers for any of their controllers.
Valve eventually added pro controller drivers to Steam though (but they sadly never bothered with the joycons)
Emulators and other unaffiliated software also comes with drivers.

Playstation controllers also never had official servers until Playstation started their PSNow PC game-streaming service. That's when they first did official drivers.
Xbox controllers are the only home console controllers that have had official PC from day 1.

The Switch 2 controller will work with PC whenever someone actually makes viable PC drivers for it. Be it from Valve, some emulator update, or from some random nobody on the Internet.
