The story is pure Kojima, bizarre and emotional (surprisingly funny like the Adventurer giving you thumbs up while he's passed out twice). The combat is a step up from MGSV with a smaller map, and the visuals and OST are 10/10. It is a masterpiece that doesn't take itself too seriously.

literally nothing just like Navi barely ever actually bugged you in OoT unless you were a literal knuckle dragger who was lost.
I think Dollman barely talks to you at all in the overworld and typically just after a cutscene. He's not really going out of the way to give any tips, usually you get repeat tool tip popups instead which are more annoying honestly and can probably be turned off.

It's a wink. I don't think the game ever says they're an actual couple, but then again, I took it as really sweet that the whole narrative theme was letting go, and Heartman has a chance to be happy again. God. I'm about 90% done, and every single character has a great "letting go" moment that has either happened or Im sure will happen, which pairs with the theme that even though Sam and the player seem alone, everyone is going through some shit with him, driving home the whole 'connection' point of the game. It's such a good game, bros. I love it so much.

Anyone else playing post-game? Doing all standard deliveries and getting LLLs? I am and it's more fun than the base game/story. This was the case for the first game too. There's just something weirdly satisfying for me in driving the same braindead routes again and again while listening to Kojima's favorite hits and building more optimized braindead delivery routes. I just enjoy it. Usually I only really enjoy difficult and high intensity games but there's something therapeutic in DS1 and 2 deliveries. Maybe I should become a mailman IRL in some remote area

Yes, Sam, that's right, we came here for Tomorrow. As you might recall, she was kidnapped by Higgs, the primary antagonist of the video game Death Stranding 2 - On the Beach. And speaking of Higgs, there's a chance we'll encounter him too, since he is the one who kidnapped Tomorrow and brought her to this beach in an effort to trigger the Last Stranding, as you might recall. Anyway Sam, be prepared to potentially face off against Higgs, the person responsible for this impending calamity, and settle your differences with him. When I mean insightful, I mean the summaries of the books Sam can peruse and how they relate to their plight, or his musings on other characters' emotional states, troubles, motivations, etc.. it is truly a shame when the exclamation point appears in the private rooms and you are asked if that cryptobiote tasted good or if you're going to wash your ass. He's not near as annoying as he's made out to be, but they should patch the convo logic to stop bringing up showers and food after chapter 3 or so, when the player knows what is going on.

I finished this last night and not gonna lie I was in tears by the credits, just like the first game. But I hate the plot of this game regarding Sam, it literally didn't have to exist. It's just misery porn for him. First lose your adopted daughter, lose your sanity, lose your dead wife's loyalty, lose your original dead daughter's paternity, lose Fragile and then regain your adopted daughter who was actually your biological daughter all along but lose out on seeing her grow up. Also the game really doesn't put in effort about making Sam care for Tomorrow, they have the most barebones interactions that end with him mostly walking away. She seemed closer to Rainy and Fragile than Sam, and it was obvious from the start that she was Lou so it was a real missed opportunity.

With the Lucy and Neil stuff, that shit just made me angry. I loved the Neil parts but the cheating was just awful shit. Clearly invented for the second game. What was the point? Why did Lucy have to cheat on Sam why couldn't Neil just have an unrequited crush on her and vow to protect her kid even if it wasn't his? He DID leave her to die. And in the end telling Sam the kid wasn't his was pointless because they still killed her for it anyway assuming it was Sam's kid.

The other NPCs were the saving grace of this game and they were the thing that really touched me. Tarman losing his son, Rainy being outcasted and almost suiciding with her unborn baby, the Doctor being unable to give birth to those babies and killing a kid, Fragile's meaningless death, Dollman losing his body and his daughter (absolutely brutal shit lingering on his dead daughter's tar covered body like that). All of that for absolutely no reason other than the cruelty of the world. Only part that saved the game for me.

She barely had any lines at all. It feels like she was only included because Kojima wants to fuck her. I wish they at least had a mission where one of the other cast members suggests that Sam brings her on a delivery so she could get out for a bit and so they could have an actual conversation together, THEN they could get ambushed by ghost mechs and THEN she could show off all her powers and shit instead of her just running off out of nowhere.

Exactly. I was surprised when she started talking and it was actually Elle Fanning because she was such a non character I thought she was in there just to get SCANNED and pose for silly fucking pictures. When you reach the end sequence where you have to link up the final terminal for a moment I thought that's when Tomorrow was going to come along, taking out ghost mecs with her tar powers alongside Sam. But no she stays on the ship handling the fucking guns. Give me a break. I liked that she beat the shit out of Higgs while Sam was being tortured but logically there was no reason for her to intervene to help him there other than Fragile telling her to, she had no memories and no relationship to Sam at all. For such a good first game that really slowly builds the dad/daughter relationship here it was done horribly. This is simply unacceptable in a post-TLOU world I mean come on at this point we know it's possible for a game to have a good slow build up or a father/teenage daughter relationship while the same father is dealing with the loss of his first kid.

That just makes me even more angry other than cheating on Sam and telling him the baby wasn't his she was gonna elope with her lover and Sam's unborn baby and make him raise it. Not having this was such a letdown. Between the first scene of her easily killing ghost mechs and sam providing support fire and her training how to control her powers throughout the story it felt like there was going to be some build up to some epic mission where she goes with sam and absolutely fucks everything up with Sam behind her but instead she got left on the ship because "we must protecc the girl who can melt ghost mechs and literally phase into the ground". Such a waste, they should have done the reveal that she was Sam's daughter so much earlier so they could form an actual bond.

Playing with structure sharing off reinforced my suspicion that the game was balanced for offline and that it's only journalist-easy because of online structures, the game mechanics weren't balanced with online play in mind. The online layer is like an extra thing that descends and covers the gameplay so it doesn't integrate and instead erases battery management, stamina conservation, materials consumption.

I always drive the truck at regular speed without boosting, even though you have infinite boost in the roads. I just love cruising in the post-strandocalypse. Plus, you get to basically max out the ceramics and metals in Lake Knot so you can use those materials to build/repair roads.

the real issue is that companies want the money of THESE retards

People think it's a cuck arc because he died trying to save the wife and child of another guy, then spent decades in limbo to eventually become that childs protector until she grew up and returned to the real world and her father

Radical position: I think this makes him cool as fucking hell, actually

It’s fucking amazing how this game manages to create special moments so randomly like this. The most memorable moments I’ve had with this game all came from me trying to do the most menial, basic, inconsequential shit. It’s like you create your own emotional and impactful story quests just doing basic shit without even realizing it until it’s over and you’re safe and sound back in the Private Room
