Since we all know Rewind is vaporware and never coming out, there's a new fangame that rebuilt the gameplay and ported all the assets (characters, guns, maps, animations etc) from TS1 - FP and put it all in one game

It’s already a skeleton propped up on nostalgia and old forum hype. Rewind is basically the Duke Nukem Forever of fangames at this point. At least these new projects like SplitterBros are doing something instead of spending another five years polishing the water shaders no one asked for.

Future Perfect's campaign is great. I know it was basically not even a consideration in the previous games but EA told them to make knockoff Vin Diesel do a big action story mode and Free Radical knocked it out of the park while staying true to their vision. Given how Rewind has had the IP holder's blessing (with various stipulations attached) and how the Homefront 2 port was done by the developers themselves in secret under the company who had the rights to it anyway, I don't think it's quite the same.

Timesplitters 2 is the best one by far.

They are different campaigns. FP is very good, and great story/characters that 2 was missing a lot, but there is a downside that is the loss of Goldeneye/PD/TS2 level design and mission structure. The way playing on easy was just go do main objective and when raising the difficulty would add more objectived and barriers to deal with (not on all levels, sure, but it would be nice for FP to expand on that and it went the other way around).
I love both, the best levels of 2 are amazing and on hard you have this endurance test of skill and speed that isnt present in FP.
Thematically ts2 is like an anthology while FP is a single story, something that i also enjoy a lot

Most of the FP maps are kinda shit though - especially the blimp map which is waaaaaaaaaaay too much space between spawns and pickups meaning most of the time you are just running around with nothing to do.

First time playing it I hated it since im an esl, so i went to arcade completely confused and couldnt understand the inverted aim.
So i just played Halo. A year later went back to ts2, loved it, but still didnt know you could change the aiming controls so for some years I would play ts2 as the only inverted aim game

Nobody brings it up but I think the TimeSplitters: Future Perfect announcer should go down in history as one of the all-time great vidya gaem announcers.

I just find most of the maps needlessly maze like which leads to a lot of boring hunting enemies down in a way the TS2 maps don't suffer from. Like the underground bunker map is just running through a whole bunch of same looking grey tunnels going through doors. The azetc themed one is just two separate areas they blatantly just glued together without any thought to how running gun battles work so you just get this inside vs outside divide that kills pacing.

Compared to say...chiense or mexican mission where these maps flow much better from enclosed indoor to wider outdoor sections. that tunnel connection in chinese was the right decision though in FP

Crytek. Since they were kind of working under them or maybe with their blessing they had two choices with the engine. They could use Cryengine or they could use something like UE4/Unity but then Crytek put a bunch of stipulations on what they could do with it if I'm remembering correctly. Then later down the line they had to switch engines and throw out a shitload of work anyway iirc.

Rewind only had to get permission when the rights were owned by Crytek but when Koch Media (a subsidiary of THQ Nordic) purchased the rights the Rewind devs never asked for permission and kept "working" on it

THQ Nordic still owns the rights (for now) until they feel like selling them off and they haven't said anything about the series whatsoever

The zombies in TS2's Notre Dam level had gory zombies so they replaced them with this clown girl and some other circus characters. I've been wanting to check out these games because I enjoyed goldeneye and perfect dark, but I'm also spoiled by the mkb mods for those. am I correct in understanding that:

You can leave 1 for last if you want though since hard mode filters people

The homefront port does work but it automatically unlocks everything by default so you may as well just use the dolphin version with the texure mod

FP is already the easiest game of the trilogy, it doesn't need to be made any easier
