>You Will Die Here Tonight
Obvious RE1 inspired horror game, does a many things different. Isometric view while exploring and railshooter sections when shooting at zombies. Story uses rogue-lite elements, once your character dies, you continue playing a different member of the team (the dead character is still around as a zombie). Story is also more supernatural.

Cool little game where you play a village dude whose father was killed by the villagers so he uses an evil magic dagger to kill them all with dark sorcery. Sorta like Runescape + medieval Hitman where you could summon demons, reanimate skellies, poison wells, lay out traps on the road to the village etc.
I wish there were more dark fantasy games where you're playing a villain necromancer or somesuch, would kill for some game recommendations like that.

Vinga worshipers are the red-haired warrior wymyn, filtered through a Celtic lens. But you need to cast spells to get regular women to help defend when you're being attacked rather than hiding somewhere.

>>714995468>Why the fuck would I ever ever care?NTA but you can't delete knowledge from your mind.
When you know the politics of the artist you're immediately reminded of that when you see something in the game which you know was put there to promote their pet cause. This takes you out of it.
I can play a game and there can be some rabbits in the game and I'm not bothered, but after I learn that the developer has a thing for rabbits and wants to fuck them, I can't immerse myself in any of their games because now I notice the rabbits.
So I agree you shouldn't learn too much about the devs, to avoid this issue.
Unfortunately, tranny shit is promoted everywhere, so you can't innocently enjoy a game with an androgynous woman (or whatever) in it anymore. You have to actively avoid games made by trannies.

>>714997826>its sad the developer isn't willing to make another dungeon crawler.what? why?
>Din's Curse
Diablo in a dynamic randomized world with custom classes. Seven (six without the DLC) default classes with 3 skill trees each or a hybrid class that picks any 2 skill trees which adds a ton of replayability.
Speaking of replayability that's really the name of the game here which leads back into the dynamic and randomized world. Maybe saying "world" is a bit much, each "world" consists of a single town and a single dungeon, when you do enough quests to save a town you move onto the next randomized town/dungeon combo. Dynamic isn't a buzzword here, the world moves on with or without your actions or sometimes BECAUSE of your action/inaction.
Let's say, for example, one of the bosses you need to kill is Doodoo Head the Machinist and he's 10 levels deep into the dungeon. While you're dungeon diving he builds a recon tower on one of the higher floors but you're too busy to go back up to take it out or spend too long trying to find it so he uses it to stage an invasion of the town. You get back to the town, start fighting his invasion force which ends up killing half the townspeople and two vendors, but while you are doing this he builds a fog machine on one of the lower floors and an ice machine higher. Then there is an uprising of some enemy type due to Doodoo Head's meddling because you're taking too long to get down and kill his ass so while you're taking care of that so they don't also invade your town he continues to build more and more machines. Then you finally manage to kill one of his lieutenants but as it turns out he was something of a diplomat so now the skeletons and demons in the dungeon have started a war with each other.
This sort of stuff unfolds in the matter of an hour, there's tons and tons of emergent gameplay and emergent storytelling too (if you're willing to kind of stretch the definition of "story"). It can be bitesized dynamic Diablo or "what the fuck I've been playing this for 4 hours straight" dynamic.

Nightmare of Decay
It's a MUCH more faithful first person Resident Evil than 7
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1848450/Nightmare_of_Decay/

when asked about it they said they would rather pursue other types of games than only making a single type of game.
and considering they are Japanese I think it pretty much says
>I want to make other types of games and may come back to dungeon crawlers laterwith none of the other... basic in progress projects they have tried out (I guess is how you would put it) being at all related.
I want to see more from them, but if they already happy with how potato flowers turned out and want to focus on nailing down something else I get it, I just still want to see more from them.
>>714997048I just would not think about it. I'm vaguely aware some musicians I like have retarded politics, I would never think about that while enjoying their music. The onus is on you with this one honestly.
>>714998274There's the kinda-maybe sequel Din's Legacy which is more of an entry in the greater "Depth's of Peril Universe" that has stretched from Soldak's first game onwards than a real sequel to Din's Curse. It's honestly an incomprehensible clusterfuck of ideas with downright bizarre worldgen and in my opinion WAY too much randomization, even your class's passives get randomized so you might end up with 5 copies of the ability to use swords, sometimes you don't even get access to the skills the class is supposed to have. The main mechanics are mutations which can be passives, skills, modifiers for existing skills, etc. which puts the random elements over the edge and into the RNG void. You can get a modifier for a beginner spell that leaves a fuckhueg AoE tornado on a kill which can carry you through the whole loop or you get get 4 [Elemental] Resist passives in a row then a DoT extender for a skill you put no points into.
I'm bringing this up primarily while shilling Din's Curse because you might get really into Curse and decide to pick up the "sequel" only to find out it's a totally different beast that has little to no relation to the first.
Anyways, Din's Curse is $2.50 (burgershekels) and the DLC is $1.24. If you go by dollar per hour it's a steal if it sounds even halfway interesting.

>>714968146 (OP)>>714975856Alright, last day of the sale. Here's a compilation of notable mystery/murder/thriller recommendations from the previous thread taken from different anons. I honestly was going to made this longer and got tired, but fuck it. Feel free to post other games of any genre, I might include them in a bigger image if the thread doesn't die.
Starting from Top Left:
Misericorde. A weird visual novel that takes place in the 14 century in a convent. You play as a nun who's forced to investigate the murder of some of her sisters after the Mother Superior asks her tos top her decade long as a hermit.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1708110/Misericorde_Volume_One/
Ravensburg. Two vampires travel to a mysterious island in the middle of nowhere to eliminate a suicidal cult in this horror-anime adventure. There's a blatant number of romance choices mixed with occult themes.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/3314710/RAVENSBURG/
Digital Exorcist. Has 139 reviews currently. Discount: literally free. Detective-like story with paranormal elements to it, using PC-98 graphics. Go around shooting demons and resolving mysteries.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2299040/DIGITAL_EXORCIST_case_0/
Pale City. Grimdark setting with strong atmosphere, fast paced combat that doesn't drag, story focused and a pessimistic MC. Side content isn't plentiful, but it's good and offers some good rewards.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1196580/The_Pale_City/
Decade. Philosophical visual-novel/investigative adventure story. You travel through an alternate time line exploring the intersection of philosophical ideas, something about prosperity turning society weak and dumb.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/3272360/Decade/
Red line. Focused on time loops and investigating different plotlines in miserable apartment complex. It uses time-travelling mechanics to investigate the place, has some pretty anime visuals.

Any Peggle-like games?
Any Candy Crush type games?
I already have actual Peggle and I have the Bejeweled and Grindstone.
Definitely going to add Icycle: On Thin Ice (short BMX platformer with a cool artstyle), Fractal Block World (6DoF Shooter/Exploration game with shrinking/growing mechanics set in a fractal world made of blocks) to this list later. Maybe G String too though I haven't played that enough to be sure just yet. Cape Hideous (sidescrolling walking sim with MSPaint visuals) and Nekoba RocknRoll (schizo doujin action-platformer where you play as a cat wielding a bazooka) were also pretty cool.
>>715001821It doesn't make me angry. I don't have anything against people who want to fuck rabbits. It just breaks immersion when I play their game and it has a lot of rabbits in it, and my enjoyment is diminished.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1681840/Abalon_Roguelike_Tactics_CCG/
It's a roguelite deckbuilder (which I usually hate) but this one, along with Tainted Grail Conquest (it's not exactly a hidden gem to list here however) I liked a lot. It's basically a hybrid of deckbuilder-style spells and turn-based tactical combat with units. If you like old DnD-inspired tactical games, you'll probably like this. Art style looks like a mobile game which is meh but the game itself is pretty cool, especially with its attack/combo system and the ability to recruit two permanent niggas to join your party which gives you a lot of tactical options. It's also on Android and iOS, and it's pretty much one of the best games I ever played on my phone (besides old remakes like FFT or Tactics Ogre), can't shill this enough
>>715002460To each their own I guess. Go out of your way to not learn about it then.

Almost 30k reviews but since it doesn't have a english translation (there is a full fantranslation however) it's basically unknown here (outside of the occasional wuxia threads). >>715009275I was unsure of even putting it on the list honestly, since it can be extremely dull in parts. And of course it's a VN, so you get to experience most of the borderline incomprehensible story in text and still images. It's similar in the sense that it's about making a build and holding a button, except you play as an army instead of an individual, and it's inspired by a game series called Conquest of Elysium which I have not played.
Overall I think the game is fantastic. I play it in bursts where I obsess over it for a week and then drop it for a while. The appeal for me is to try and win with all the different prestige classes. You can see in the pic that the ones with stars I have beaten it with. Most of them are very different from one another. I've even saved some of the powerful classes to be used when I reach the highest difficulty.
Also, there's pieces of lore whenever you win. And it's incredibly interesting to me. It's based on bronze age mesopotamia, babylon, etc. The writing blurbs are unlike any other video game because how many games are made about Ancient mythology? It's not fantasy writing like you've seen before, written by people who just played D&D or copied Tolkien.

>Warhammer 40k Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1611910/Warhammer_40000_Chaos_Gate__Daemonhunters/
XCom meets 40k. It removes several xcom style RNG mechanics (attack RNG being the big one) and shifts it into other, newer mechanics. Has a "Warp Surge" mechanic, which = every X turns, you suffer a random bad effect. This can range from "you take a minor debuff that doesn't really matter" to "theres an extra pod spawning next turn, hope you weren't busy fighting another pod :^)". Designed to punish the sort of gameplay I didn't like from xcom (overwatch camping) and add a very tactical action oriented game style. I liked it a lot and will shill it any day of the week
>Shadows of Forbidden Gods
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1741640/Shadows_of_Forbidden_Gods/
You're thrust into a run of the mill medieval fantasy world where the AI is playing Civ 4 and you're playing a subversive cult worshipping an elder god trying to bring about armageddon. Turn based strategy game with high levels of indirect control. 90% of the moving pieces in the game act based on their own quirks and interests, while you have direct control over only a handful of pawns, otherwise known as Agents, who orchestrate your designs. Instead of mappainting with giant armies (although you can also do that), you are more likely trying to induce "natural" disasters like famines or plagues to cripple nations, spread corruption via secret cults and assassinating heroes who start to discover the truth, subvert religions with corrupted clergy such that the masses will further your designs, and more.
>Into The Breach
https://store.steampowered.com/app/590380/Into_the_Breach/

Thanks for the games, niggas. Any FPS recommendations aside from Dusk, Turbo Overkill and Fallen Aces, really enjoyed those three recently.
Also unrelated but recently I really got taste for old Doom again, been trying out all kinds of WADs to the point I'm now making one purely for my own personal enjoyment(ZScript isn't as bad as I expected to be honest as someone who dabbled, at best, in programming before). I'm ripping Daikatana models and taking pics for sprites to make a .WAD where an allied controlled my buddy Superfly accompanies the player as an allied monster for fun with all them one liners and shit. Maybe someone will find that interesting, I dunno.

>>715034285I meant to say not really obscure but not really a massive hit either, Its late so I got it mixed up. Its actually the opposite of mid tier games that I want, I want stuff that does something new but still manages to be cool and a nice experience to play around with. Stuff like salt and sacrifice for example, its an entirely new type of experience that is satisfying to play but isn't quite obscure while simultaneously not being a hit either, its the kind of stuff that just happened not to be more well known due to other factors that's not just the game being extremely niche like a bunch of the stuff I saw in this thread. Bonus points if its recent and not cult classics from more than 5-10 years ago
Out of the ones you mentioned Burnhouse lane is the only one that I found interesting enough, that's not to say that your taste is shit or that the games you mentioned are bad, I'm just in the mood for something that wows me, because recently all the stuff that's popular is just so painfully average and boring, stuff like Helldivers 2 for example does fucking NOTHING new except adding a max payne dive to a generic coop bug/robot shooter and it blows up like its the coolest shit on earth, I don't get it

Eat up, gamers.
> Ittle Dew 2
> 296 reviews
The first game is a good Zelda parody, and 2 evolves into something a more unique. It's completely nonlinear and heavily rewards exploring with lots of secrets, and it has a very light Souls flavor to the combat, featuring a dodge roll.
> Quadrilateral Cowboy
> 834 reviews
A short hacking game from the guy who made 30 Flights of Loving and several other games. I like it a lot, blending puzzles with a particular style of narrative game.
> Card City Nights
> 646 reviews
It's by the same guys who made Ittle Dew (I bought all their games in a bundle because I do that sometimes). It's just a fun card game. I also like the sequel, which has fewer degenerate strategies, but I only beat the first one.
> Doodle Date
> 296 reviews
It was on an episode of Game Grumps, but surprisingly few people have played it, probably because they beat the entire game.
It's a very short visual novel (about 20 minutes), with the gimmick that you draw all the characters.
It's not a lot of game, but it's currently 99 cents, and it's a fun 20 minutes.
> Dread X Collection 3
> 318 reviews
I like indie anthologies, and the Dread X Collections are consistently good. They're a mix of horror and horror-adjacent games and demos.
No one game is longer than about an hour, but all together they make for a solid package.
> Clockwork Calamity in Mushroom World
> 59 reviews
This is the only game I haven't completed so far. It's a surprisingly dense open-world/Metroidvania platformer thing.
The thing I find interesting is the fucked up way you bounce off walls, which is the central movement mechanic.
It's hard to explain if you don't play it, but you basically bounce off walls at a fixed horizontal speed, but if you lightly tap a wall, you get sent flying away from it.
It simultaneously feels like complete shit and is a great, interesting movement mechanic.
>>714998326The ending sucks

>HighfleetStrategy/action game with neat dieselpunk Middle Eastern setting occupied by Russo-Tsarist-esque nobles, you play as a noble thatโs gotta fly around and mediate for factions while fending off pirates and maneuvering political swamps, entire interface has an engaging tactile feel
>The AscentCyberpunk/corpo-dystopia top down shooter, canโt get any more straightforward than that
>Withering RoomsMore soulslike than what it says on the tin, the dream setting is well-thought out and the gameplay is a lot like a NIS mystery dungeon with lots of item usage to clear enemies and solve puzzles.
>Clash: Artifacts of ChaosSet in the Zeno Clash setting, itโs more beat em up fun with a bunch of alien hobos
>ParanormasightGreat Squeenix VN with a pretty understated production value, to uncover the truth you gotta recontextualize events kinda like Forbidden Siren
>Megaton Musashi W: WiredMech ARPG with so much bang for your buck, thereโs a lengthy main story and an even thicker endgame, gameplay is fun as fuck cuz you can customize your movesets and your robot
>Intravenous 2 (with the remastered first game in the engine)Balkan attempt at mashing MGS with Hotline Miami while borrowing a few beats from Splinter Cell, goes really well it turns out, itโs basically a Punisher game and if thatโs not for you
>Suit for HireArcade John Wick experience, you can either play in TPS or top down, just slick action to fulfill the fantasy
>Rogue FlightArcade flight sim with S+ presentation, itโs pretty short but Iโve played through it twice now
I hope I got even a little bit close, enjoy

It's very rough. Only 4 hours long. Tight gameplay, not necessarily an action game, instead it wants you to use the right tool (weapon) for the right situation and enemy type. Wish boss battles were better (or had actual boss music). Exploration is pretty neat, good art style and atmosphere. Still very rough game, some enemies just feel very jank to deal with, and the ending is a massive bummer.
