I haven't played Phantom Libery yet. I've burned over 300h on the 1.0 - 1.3 version and then left the game. I know it had a lot of patches since then and the entire expansion, I'll check it out soon enough.

Clean act2 save is easy to get from nexus mod so it's not that big deal realistically, I'm just saying it's a big retard design choice to make the beginning of the game so very long and unskipable on a second playthrogh.

While we're on Cyberpunk. Even though I didn't play the latest version yet I've seen some videos and the way the quest npcs drive the car is still terrible. The entire scripted car sequences look like someone drew the path of the car in mspaint, it can just slide on the ground or do a 180 turn in place sometimes...

Honestly, only Wolf, Sam, Mistral and Senator were fun. Monsoon and Sundowner were brought down by the shitty gimmicks. Game would be tons better to replay if it had better quality of life improvements in its menus and overall handling of cutscenes/codec shit.

Its why i dont touch alot of AAA stuff either, they feel like the same game so id rather just go play something indie or something from 30 years ago instead because at least itll be unique.

Accurate, but at least you can parry the Monsoon Katamari Damacy bullshit and bypass it mostly with EMP grenades and heavy burst damage. Sundowners shield and scissors phase can be bypassed entirely by simply not cutting the shield arms off and continually attacking the body instead.

No one has false memories lol. It's bad faith to think people mean optional side content is preventing them from completing the main game. It's obvious that they mean they are just prevented from clearing the side content. It's still a "THAT" part, even if you can avoid it.

And doing optional hard content or even a completionist run are perfectly valid ways to play the game.

Not true, whenever people talk about Vice City and the RC mission people say that they got stuck on it and couldn't finish the game because of it... I can sort of see that happening if they never wanted to pick up the phone, because the gate to the bridge opens after you pickup the phone from Diaz, but otherwise.. I dunno. And besides, that mission is easy, how is it any more difficult than any other helicopter ? and t here's plenty of those in the game. The entire discourse around this mission sounds like something DSP would rant about.

These have demonstrated the degree to which my brain has degraded over the years.
As a child I solved them without even thinking about what I was doing and they barely registered as something I'd done.
As an adult, I just end up pasting the image in a program for solving silding puzzles and let that do it for me.

Serious cognitive decline.

No I mean the way NPCs drive when you are a passenger. They don't actually drive the car, the car is just animated, very badly ... Driving itself is great, always was. I never understood the hate, cars in first person, except few cars that have very limited view like you mentioned, is great, one of the best parts of the game.

for the first time through its a nice break in the gameplay but on replay it just feels like an unskippable cutscene, although in the remake the way you can skip a majority by knowing the time on the clock was a very nice inclusion. i think the sherry section in re2r is a better example of this kind of gameplay style in re for how fast you can do it if you know what your doing on replay

KOTOR 2, Peragus II

The meme that Peragus has any sort of value to the game or the story is built exclusively on contrarianism. Normally a meme about why something unpopular was actually good highlights some undercooked or exaggerated but otherwise genuine redeeming quality. Peragus has people arguing it is 'deeply valuable to the story' when fuck all happens before the final cutscene, 'it perfectly sets the tone' when it is a piss poor presentation of how the game plays and what you'll be doing, and 'introduces the characters' when you almost have to unlearn what happens on Peragus to follow what is going on later.

Peragus is ASS. I skip it everytime I play. The vague 'ooooh what's going on' shit just makes it more confusing, not less. KOTOR 2 plays infinitely better if it opens with you shooting the fuel asteroids and destroying the facility, thus causing all the problems in the game. Between that and a small mention in the Republic logs about how Darth Sion is being held together by the Force. That's it. Everything the fuck else you can skip.
>hurr you can complete it in 18 minutes
It feels like it lasts closer to 18 hours.. Peragus is shit. Fuck everyone who defends it.

Reinstalled Company of Heroes after five years to beat the mostly-finished campaign, and soon got to the Mortain Counterattack. Just because I didn't do so well in the previous mission and managed to lose most of my forces while the enemy retreated most of his, I had a very rocky start. It took five hours of repelling the enemies all over the map until I barricaded all the roads with tank traps and MG nests, and only then could I actually do the objectives. Then the Chambois mission was also quite rough and I didn't even get the medal. I feel so old.

A lot of SMT games have "that one part".

>SMT 1
Cathedral and/or the Heroine's Dream, Ginza is kind of bad too but not very

>Nocturne
Kabukicho is pretty mind numbing but the Labyrinth is the worst parts of SMT level design redone.

>Persona 1
Avidya is pretty shit if you don't buy tablets to teach Megidoloan to all your teammates.

>Persona 2
All of it (too easy)

>Persona 3
All of it

>Persona 4
Everything after Heaven because you just want the game to over already and Izanami is a pussy unlike Ameno-sagiri.

>following pops in the trainer plane
>flying the cargo plane with President Harling inside

Out of every game, that's the one that needs a remake the most. So that those awful parts can be made enjoyable, or even turned into cutscenes.

I used to think it was just the opening chapters to HL2 until you ditch the airboat but I think I just don't like the game in general. Its approach to everything is so heavy handed, exploration feels unrewarding as hell because all you ever get is a crate that gives you whatever you're low on. The enemies are dirt stupid and go down like nothing. The weapons are mostly unsatisfying, the cutscenes are long and I'm tired of everyone sucking my dick.

Unironically less replayable than 64 for those reasons. Most players lean to TTYD as the better game after beating it for the first time, but it can be a slog to replay areas like the Glitz pit and boggly woods

No, half life 2 has so many issues its legitimately just bad in some areas. The story is incredibly underwhelming, the combat is generic, the level design is all over the place, and it just feels way too pleased with itself for shoving the physics in your face over and over again

"That part" of replaying FFX is the very beginning. There's not much gameplay until Kilika and even after they let you press buttons the systems don't come together until you've unlocked some abilities to manipulate the turn order.

The game really doesn't do anything that interesting with its physics either. Yeah, the gravity gun is cool and Ravenholm is neat but it's essentially just another level just littered with more props.

Man, now Dark Messiah? That's a fucking game that really utilized those Source physics. Half-Life 2 is underwhelming in every aspect besides its technology.

I don't think most of those missions are that bad but I can agree that the narrative and characters are doing a lot of heavy lifting in some. The radar section with the cargo plane did suck shit though.

>dropping anti gas agents on the city
You know you get to choose between that mission or an alternate mission right? I don't think I knew about that myself until my replay and wondered why I was getting a completely different mission I had never seen before.

Why does every GTA game have a main mission that's just one of the random mini-games made mandatory in order to progress the story?
SA has that lowrider contest, V has yoga. I'm sure the others have it too but those are the only ones I could think of.
