They made some top teir character designs, but forgot to make the gameplay for any of their games enjoyable enough for people to stick around. Sex can sell something, but if everyone opts out of actually playing it once they realize the gameplay is boring, they actually will opt to just browse the porn over playing the game.

There were legitimately game-breaking bugs like duping. They had to revamp every class once a year, which is pure cancer in an MMO.

They also finally caved and just made multiboxing part of the game. It's just a really grindy FFT after that, instead of the whole "NATURAL ECOSYSTEM AND NATION SIM" thing they were going for.
I think a full-length single player rpg from the company would be pretty sick.

Square Enix was the publisher at first and they absolutely fucked the game up right as it left beta. Wouldn't be surprised if they sabotaged it honestly. Ankama tried to salvage it after they gave Square Enix the boot, but Ankama are kinda retarded too and the damage was done already. After that they kinda just gave up. Also ToT is a faggot I still haven't watched Season 4 despite having it downloaded.

Ankama are retarded, it's that simple. They have two halves of a winning formula with Dofus and Wakfu and they refuse to put them together.
They just need to take the class design philosophies and map design of Dofus and put them into Wakfu's engine (or ideally something better, anything would be an improvement over Dofus 2 or even 3) with the sandbox elements and the larger scale it had to begin with.
We could have a game that doesn't play like shit, where each class has a decently rounded kit and greater player expression concerning hybridization, a world that feels interconnected and whole with decently sized zones and nation-state politics/PvP/teamwork.

It would also help if they didn't just revamp everything every couple of months. They straight up ruined Iop, and the changes they made to various niche tactics (Sadida totem comes to mind) to hamstring non-standard play was mad gay.
The PvP was unbalanced dogshit too, but that's got more to do with the fact they gave their ranged classes the highest mobility and damage for the first like 5 years. And Fire Sacrier...

BEcause its a turn based tacitcs MMO, its just an unpopular format. They shouldve made a character action game or RPG with real time combat or something instead of an MMO. A large part of the appeal of Wakfu is the aesthetics, making it a 2d sprite game wasnt exactly leaning into its strengths I feel.

When I tried to get back into the game awhile ago I found that the class I played (Xelor) had been completely changed, removing the core mechanic that made it super interesting and turning it totally generic, and since then I've never touched the game again

If you mean AP drain, that got gutted because it was a nightmare to balance so they added stacking AP loss resistance to mitigate the balancing nightmare of bosses not being able to act for an entire fight. New xelor is probably the most fun class, you can save up 3 turns of worth of AP to absolutely nuke on demand, it's just that turn timers can randomly end up so short you don't have enough time to do your combos in time.

I mean the teleporting around the tower thing. This was years ago and the class was pretty complex so I don't remember super well but you had a tower and you could teleport around it, then when I got back into the game it didn't work like that anymore
