How about you don't pirate, or better yet, not buy a nintendo switch 2?
How stupid do you have to be to buy a poisonous snake and then cry to the government "REEE WHY WON'T YOU REGULATE POISONOUS SNAKES, THIS ONE JUST BIT ME"?
Are you incapable of not purchasing the product? Are you incapable of not consuming?

>>715186718Not the same people?
You're EXACTLY the same terminally online /v/irgins who make parasocial relationships with youtubers who were cheering for the death of woke games.
This year alone before SKG became trendy because of your pathetic e-celeb drama you were wishing KCD2 flopped, AC Shadows flopped, Avowed flopped (and none of those flopped much to your dismay), but now you try to pretend all game is art and no game should be "closed forever"?
Please kill yourself. YOU GUYS LAUGHED that Concord closed IMMEDIATLY, you didn't think for a second "wow maybe we should stop killing games", no, YOU CHEERED that Concord closed.
So fuck you.
>>715186865>people would change their outlook on themWhat are you talking about? If people hated nintendo they wouldn't buy the switch 2, if they didn't buy the switch 2 there would be no need to pass laws about how they can't brick your switch if you pirate games, you stupid bitch.
MILLIONS UPON BILLIONS of people consume Nintendo products and won't stop, your pathetic "meh we all refused to buy nitendo switch 2" is fantasy shit.
>>715187032there's no contradiction
>I wish nothing but misery to the cunts who signed off on pozzed shit like concord>on the other hand, I firmly believe that people should be able to keep playing it because no company should have the right to take away your games. the game is also an important reminder not to put out poz

>>715187198>I firmly believe that people should be able to keep playing itWhy do you lie?Who do you think you're gaslighting you piece of shit?

>>715185910 (OP)Shutting down a game console because you don't like the software installed on it is like GM shutting off my car because I modified it in a way they don't like. The manufacturer of a product should not have the right to dictate how it's used post-sale.
The SKG thing is an entirely different issue. Games are marketed as products. Products (generally) are expected to last an indeterminate amount of time. They actually are operating like services; i.e. they work for customers/users from launch until the developer/publisher pulls support and turns off the servers. This is a definitive service period. The rub is that nobody involved with the marketing, development, server hosting, or maintenance of these services (not products) is willing or able to openly communicate to consumers as to how long that service will last.
There are ways to mitigate this, either through having an end of life plan or by (at End of Service) giving local server hosting or server emulation to customers. Or at the very least, allow the game to function in a minimum playable state with multiplayer features disabled but still able to do activities that don't require other players.

The second amendment in the US is a nice idea but when the population is placated with TV, video games and near endless sugar treats no one will ever actually do anything to take the power to solve these issues by themselves.
I'm not necessarily advocating for anyone to kill people over video game DRM but we won't do it over things that seriously matter (we pay taxes to a cabal of gay pedophiles) so the idea that something like this will ever get better is admittedly laughable

In an actual community, you want to protect that community, even if they're 'dumber' than you, because you know they'll have your back in return. The reason you feel differently is because you lack a sense of community. You've been taught that 'intelligence' means dodging the boot so that you can be the best crab in the bucket. If you see someone get scammed, your reaction is "he deserves it, should have been as smart as me" when the truth is you only avoided being the victim by dumb luck.
The idea of punishing the guilty rather than the stupid and unlucky doesn't cross your mind because you've been taught by the guilty that they are beyond punishment. You call this intelligence, but at the end of the day your life will be substantially worse than it would be if you were a part of a community that looked out for each other.
Your way inevitably leads to what China is now. Everyone dragging each other down, ignoring their fellow man when he needs help. And instead of evolving into a nation of smart and savvy consumers on equal terms with corporations, they're little better than slaves. Because the corporations have more energy than you. They have legions of men smarter than you constantly working to find new ways to screw you. If you evade them today, they will fuck you tomorrow. Playing the edgy lone wolf doesn't end well. Look out for your fellow man, and build a better society.

EoS means that any cosmetics or anything purchased for the live games can just easily be downloaded for free. FOMO consumers and greedy publishers get punished, while good consumers and good game devs get rewarded.
You seem weirdly quiet on corporations being punished. Why don't you want them punished economically?
>>715196049So does that mean corporations should do whatever they feel like? How does this benefit stakeholders? Consumers are responsible for their own choices like what you said in your tobacco/smoking example but companies are also responsible for their own products (such as smoking companies for the longest time saying nicotine isn't addictive / promoting to minors). Look at the Enron scandal for a good example of a corporation fucking over its stakeholders.
The way liabilities and contracts work in business law is very nuanced. It should go both ways by protecting consumers and corporations so there's a mutually beneficial relationship that satisfies both parties which WAS the case for videogames before the 2000s. If you want to aim for a truly free market that is healthy, it is important to consider the rights of both consumers and corporations.
I understand your sentiment of consumers being responsible for their own actions, but it's not as black and white as you think it is. There's a reason why you have attorneys being paid huge fuckton of money dealing with business litigations.

Installing software the manufacturer didn't explicitly bless?! Just because it's your device (on paper)?! Blasphemy!!!! How DARE you!!!!
And that's not even talking about installing drivers or custom services because of course you don't get access to the administrator account.

i agree with the accountability thing to be honest. big corporations that do this shit should be held accountable and ass fucked into bankruptcy and learn their lesson. otherwise corporations are just rewarded.
I love how r*ddit and reset era has been banning so many people we got an influx of underage, commie transexual retards in here.
Only a r*ddit refugee would support SKG.

>>715197210>You seem weirdly quiet on corporations being punished. Why don't you want them punished economically?I should be asking you that question given you're willing to spend more and more on them yet refuse the one action that would actually punish them economically, not buying their product.

this entire situation summarized:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QFgcqB8-AxE
>>715196591FFRK for me
>>715196936True, but at a certain point, most games "require" online, even if you're not actively playing. That's part of the bullshit. Unless you go completely off the grid with retro gaming and pirating, there's not really much of an option left. I think govt interference with something like this is a good thing, because investors don't give a flying fuck about games. They'll continue practices that exclusively benefit them until they kill most, if not all the industry, and they'll simply move along to the next thing they can bleed dry
The worst part is most people don't see them for the parasites they are, simply because they get their pretty 4k and open world slop
/v/ is very leftist coded and always have been, and now that it's mostly brown people anyways they are addicted to gibs in real life, so why not when it comes to video games too?
>>715196312But nothing happened back then either, the microtransactions only got significantly worse almost immediately with zero regulation and no significant backlash besides the terminally online internet people.
>muh youtuber drama
And you are calling other people terminally online. I bet most people who signed it didn't even know about any drama
>>715197659Because someone who has something to gain from deregulation told you so.
>>715197639Because a game being able to be shut down permanently as opposed to staying playable forever is clearly bad for consumers?
>>715197532I think making them adhere to insane legal regulations, increasing their costs and curbstomping their captive market is a better punishment and would work. Then even less people would be willing to buy bad live service games, because if it's good they can just wait for EoS and pirate it. That works better than your idea, and punishes everyone.
>>715185910 (OP)>"C-customer protections shouldn't exist!"Go live in an cutthroat anarchist society or a dark, dystopian cyberpunk future. That's so obviously a terrible idea.

Just a coincidence of course, not because Asmongold told you to support it :S
>Don't like it, don't buy it
Hmm yes, because I like to see my hobby degrade in real time because companies cannot stop scamming people. I also enjoy seeing games die with no preservation possible because despite being in an information medium with theoretical infinite storage and can be replicated theoretically infinitely, unlike books and physical medium with natural wear and tear lasting hundreds of years.
