I know this is barely related to OP's point and I'm exposing myself as a WoW playing degenerate but I feel like it's kinda relevant and I want to vent:

I play on the Turtle WoW private server. I was in a guild that was formed by a couple people at the server's opening and gradually grew to have hundreds of people in it. Lots of oldfags and 4chan posters were in it and the social atmosphere was very casual, people would call each other faggots and retards, etc. We all formed groups together and cleared tons of dungeons and shit, were working together on gearing for raids, just a solid fun group of bros playing vidya together.

About 3 weeks ago a woman who uses a slight alteration of what I'm pretty sure if her normal IRL name in game joined. She proceeded to bitch and moan about how offensive everyone was, and got told to shut the fuck up. She took screenshots of numerous people in the guild chat saying "hate speech" no no words and sent them to a GM. A faggy, lispy GM who roleplays in world chat as a kitten (I'm serious) came into the guild, forcibly demoted the guild officers, banned the leader and promoted said woman to lead of the guild.

I logged on this morning to discover most of the guild is gone and the guild chat consisted of 5 extremely incoherent ESL's arguing in their shitmonkey retard languages about politics and IRL bullshit, and the woman typing out HR speak in guild chat about ways to combat toxicity and racism online.

It just feels so perfectly metaphorical for the internet as a whole. Nerds having fun and doing their own shit, working together cohesively, then faggots and women show up, put themselves in positions of power, ban anyone who disagrees and it turns into a third world shithole immediately.

None of this is legitimate, it's just attention seeking. Being scared of something isn't a phobia, a phobia is a genuine mental disorder where you have an irrational and disproportionate fear to something you logically know you shouldn't, like if the sight of a toilet brush made your brain dump adrenaline in your system. Same thing with those fags claiming they have thassalophobia or however it's spelled from playing Subnautica, you don't, you just find deep water scary because it's hard to see in, move around in and full of predators IRL. You just want attention by pretending you have a disorder.

If you were actually scared of spiders you could take steps to work on that by interacting with them more, handling the safer kinds with your hands, shit like that. I used to hate them as a kid and yesterday I helped this beautiful orb weaver that made a web between my trash cans relocate so she wouldn't get screwed over when I move them, most species of spider aren't aggressive at all.
