The first game might have been the worst story ever told in mainstream media. I would put shit like Twilight above it. How is this sequel?

why are there no transporter trikes? why don't ziplines actually interconnect with each other? why are there no roads across the mountain region? are they really saving all that for the DC?

For those who haven't played it:
>Hold triggers to balance
>Auto sort cargo
>The entire balancing "challenge" disappears when you use vehicles
>Skiplines

God forbid they want to do something interesting with their time. As opposed to spending tens of hours building a skipline to trivialise what "gameplay" is already in DS.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Death Stranding. The gameplay is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of the trigger buttons most of the traversal will go over a typical gamer's head. There's also Kojima's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his writing - his personal philosophy draws heavily from Hollywood movies, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these references, to realize that they're not just films - they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Death Stranding truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the meaning behind Amelie's existential catchphrase "Like Mario and Princess 'Beach'" which itself is a cryptic reference to videogame classic, Super Mario Bros. 2. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Kojima's genius unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools... how I pity them. And yes by the way, I DO have a Norman Reedus tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.

These games and stories would be a lot better if they just let Kojima make it as silent hills. It would be all glorious and shiny linear bullshit and no tech optimism wanking. Writing wouldnโ€™t have to be contrived which Kojima gets artistically into offering peacemeal explanations and misnomers trying to set up his gigabrain conclusion in the end as some one liner โ€œwe live to connectโ€ and could instead lean into horror with far more showing/less telling.
