Alright, from what I heard, K Rool is sort of not in the game, Void Kong basically transform into a more muscular reptile form for the final boss by absorbing all the banandium with the help of forcing Pauline to sing. Form reminds him a mix of spike from Gremlins and Frieza's second form. DK helps free her from his control and then gets a confidence boost and transforms into a magical girl like idol and uses her singing to transform DK into a more powerful Bananza form and them have a DBZ fight in the core. The atmosphere is like Namek with storm clouds, earthquakes and lightning everywhere.

No sign of K Rool unless he's like a secret boss.

Yes. I didn't just want him in Smash Bros., I wanted him back as a defacto villain to Donkey Kong. I'm sick of all the other villains who lack the charm and character K. Rool had on the SNES and GB. Lord Fredrik is literally K. Rool reskinned as a mammal so there's no excuse why they can't bring him back. Not only is he in, but this will be the canonical "first" game. K.Rool is dead, has been for thousands of years. Void Co dug him and the Kremlings up, though they call them Krockoids. The Banandium partially revived him and his crew, but he needs the Root to complete it. So he told Void Kong that the Root will grant a wish to those that find it. After we beat Void Kong, the Krockoid that he has with him reveals everything, eating the Banandium and taking the gold teeth from Void and using them as his crown. He is actually King K. Rool, King of the Kremlings. DK beats him up, sending him flying away to places unknown, swearing eternal revenge against the Kongs.

I work for a company that markets and plans distribution for merchandise for Nintendo. I do not know how or where K. Rool is in the game. But Nintendo communicates with us how characters are to be represented and promoted. We have documents and profiles for each character. With K. Rool, they were very clear on establishing his character as a recurring villain now. Notes we got are: He would never work with Kongs. His background is a mystery. His favorite hobby is stealing bananas from DK.
“A large and in charge villain with a passion for annoying Donkey Kong. He labels himself a king, but loves to disguise himself as a pirate, scientist, and more!. Where does this cartoony croc come from? No one knows…but rumors say he wants to live on DK Isle. After removing DK and his friends of course!”

We asked Nintendo if we could poke fun at his name, like “what does the K stand for?” But they said to not mention it.

They also consider DK more immature/emotional than Mario, so he will never team up with K. Rool like Mario and Bowser sometimes do.

He has been slightly redesigned to be more expressive. His mouth snout is curved up again. We have art that shows his left really red and big but it’s not being used for anything. Little merch is planned for him besides some artwork on a thermos and a keychain. Will be listed online end of July with new donkey kong and diddy kong shirts. No young pauline stuff is planned nor do we know why she is young in the game.
