generally hard for pace runners since you need a good chunk of stamina if you run pace runner in a somewhat long race, but its very doable.

The last spurt always hypes me up but I feel like last minute comebacks don't get much love. Having a huge lead makes the announcer praise the Uma in so many ways. Neck and neck fights also rile up the announcer. But if your uma wins at like the very last second,the announcers barely even notice how amazing it was.
I am sure the game calculates who wins already when you start a race, so they should make it flashier.

Depends, if you have good stam you can go pace with confidence, if you're relying on skills to keep your stamina up it depends on how good your Uma is geared towards Pace.

It's better overall to build around your Uma's strengths, so if you're building someone like Super Creek who is meant to be a medium race pace chaser, you want to maximize that with enough stamina, but if you're building a late runner centric medium runner like Matikanefukukitaru you can somewhat neglect stam and opt for skills to help a late runner surge.
