Already done with YAAM. Making HD assets would be useless if the game itself can't be programmed to scale assets, it goes back to Fallout 1/2 and mods being stuck at rendering everything like it's in 640x480. I also couldn't stand Fallout 4 on release because I was very disappointed with the whole intro but a couple of years ago I gave it a fair chance and it turned out to be a good game and definitely way better than Fallout 3
Fallout 4 has quite a lot of roleplay and choices in quests and the whole perk system is not that far removed from what we had in F3 and NV, you could literally reorganise all F4 perks back into the system from the previous games and nothing would change (there are mods like that)
Meanwhile Fallout 3 is a very linear and broken experience. I also think the writing of Fallout 4 is way better than F3, they've obviously tried to do something decent and in some places I like it

Virtuous is literally a 90% white male studio that is the primary team who also responsible for fixing cyberpunk, making the MGS3 Remake, and various other remake feats, they'd be the one working on Fallout 3 and New Vegas' remaster because Oblivion's sold well, also they've been updating the Oblivion remake, the new patch fixed a lot of stability issues, they even added gameplay fixes aswell, like being able to individually choose how much damage enemies/the player does so you don't have to use mods to fix the weird OG damage scaling.

Obsidian is fully working on Fallout New Vegas 2 (again it's not actually called this but that's the internal name and we know it's on Fallout 4's engine) because The Outer Worlds 2 is basically fully finished and will be released in October.

The game has less handcrafted quests/locations than even TESV, or TESIV, this is a big deal because while F4 has about the same or less quests than TESV, the locations/exploration in that game from handcrafted content alone if you fully explore every nook and cranny of the map which is what most people do in those games and how they get enjoyment from said games, going around exploring and killing things and leveling up and collecting things for their base and such, it had 500 hours of content in one playthrough alone.

SF had a like 30 prefabs on planets, and sometimes the exact same prefab would load in right next to the other prefab, the fact of of the matter is most of SF complaints are completely fake and drawn out based on regurgitating popular criticism, the story is good, the grind is good, the content just doesn't exist, there's a lack of variety at every corner, with weapons, enemies, and the most important bit, locations/quests there isn't shit to do in the game, and the fact of the matter is if the game had as much handcrafted content as F4 and TESV combined, and as much procedural content as let's say NMS which is a game it got a lot of inspiration from, and it kept the same exact story, with the same exact ending and new game plus cycle with maybe, yunno, more alternate universe variety (see the whole lack of content thing I mentioned before), literally nobody would actually be complaining.

The game has issues, but most people are too dumb to realize what the issues are. Mods add all this content and more and it's good as a result now and better than most games that exist but contrarian trannies on /v/ will never get to enjoy this modded space kino because they will pretend good games are bad as usual

Its one of the downsides of being a 3D Fallout title. Fallout 3 played to the strength of letting you crawl around in a big city environment but New Vegas was trying to continue what Fallout 1/2 did storywise. But Fallout 1/2 abstracted the traveling because surprise, traversing the desert is boring. Fallout 2 even incentivized getting the Highwayman to speed it up further. It was kind of a necessary evil with New Vegas.

It's always separate, distinct setpiece locations within earshot of each other, with no proper supply lines or reasons why settlements/factions are where they are. It's a carnival ride world, not a realistic world, even within the parameters of the universe.

New Vegas is much better. Its locations make sense not only from a worldbuilding perspective, but in relation to each other. You have the river dividing the Legion and the NCR, with a lot of NCR presence along the river, but some Legion outposts on the NCR's side that send out raiding parties and spies. You have fighting between the NCR and the Fiends near New Vegas, and the Fiends getting supplies from the Great Khans, who live elsewhere because the NCR pushed them away. In the mountains you have the super mutants and nightkin (both Jacobstown and Black Mountain), because the other factions don't take too kindly to them so they have to hole up in their own little fortresses. You have sharecropper farms staffed by settlers from the NCR trying to strike it rich in the "newly annexed" Mojave, but also refugee camps with settlers who were pushed out because the NCR is overstretched and unable to protect them. You have tensions between displaced NCR settlers and the Kings because things are bad in Freeside as it is without more mouths to feed.

I feel like there's some lesson in sacrifice or grey morality with the Tenpenny Question, sacrificing reputation and a little morals to choose the ultimately option that would save more lives. The fact potentially two major settlements can get wiped out by your being naiive was something I did like about fallout 3, which I think is echoed by what happened to the Divide too.

People are naturally waiting for more modding capabilities I didn't buy the game myself because I already have Oblivion and the remake wouldn't have any of the mods that were so great on the original Oblivion. What we really needed was something like OpenMorrowind but for Oblivion then you could improve the game engine and fix bugs without losing the access to the old mods.

i'm replaying fallout 3 and rather than bitch about the story there are two niggling things about it i hate:

>placement of crafting ingredients
they are really just all clumped up together. it's one thing to go to an abandoned grocery store and find a fuck ton of abraxo cleaner, they often just take a list of The Crafting Ingredients™ and dump them all next to each other whether it makes sense or not. this often means it's "the room in the back" that has all the goods rather than being consistently spread out over the level. since inventory space is limited, if it means a second trip, i'm trekking all the way into the back of whatever fucking confusing interior cell this was.

there's too many of them. i would rather had 1/3 less of these appearing through important story beats that give +10 to the skill instead of +2's being dripfed 100% of the time. i'm constantly paranoid of missing out on them, tabbing out, backtracking. i need a text file to keep track of these, there's over 300 ffs.

fo3 i just can't get it to stop randomly crashing. i got it mostly stable but it will just give up and CTD at some point. nothing even consistent to note about them, either.
