I liked the quicker pacing from 2 and the custom waypoints incase you want to change routes or get more hp/mp. I hated the lack of new towns or major battle mechanics.

That's just an inevitability with a series as small and as niche as this one. I think you can have a decent ammount of discussion with a game like Solatorobo but given the choice between a trilogy of recent games and an PS1 game there's gonna be more people who would want to discuss Fuga.

It's a fine game in a vacuum, but people expected character conclusions and got sequel-bait instead. And as we talked about last week, the character dialogue was lacking in variety. Hanna only likes talking about her ghost son. Jin only likes talking about his dominatrix waifu. Chick only likes talking about how she's going crazy. Boron only likes talking about the Legendary Warrior. Really sloppy way of seeding things that'll be relevant in whatever the fuck that detective game with Malt is going to be called.

I think the clothing styles as well as general character color palettes in Fuga are like 10x weaker. There's no interesting outfits because of the insistence to the aesthetic and the colors are unable to be interesting at all as a result of that as well. Sola's steampunk-y aesthetic and generally more varied character designs (Chocolat being a pink Pomeranian and Bruno being a grey German Shepherd) made it feel a lot more alive and stand out a lot more because of its distinctive style. Also, no WAKA or Inumaru for Fuga.

I think the stories of Fuga are far weaker than that of Sola, but I agree and would say that I think the biggest personal pitfall of these games for me besides the narrative is the characters just being so fucking boring and having no development because of the Soul Cannon. The characters in Sola actually participated in the grander narrative and all felt like they had an impact. They had proper development, defined character arcs, and all of the main cast felt like they served some role in the story. I honestly ask; what the fuck do characters like Socks and Wappa add to anything? What the hell is the point of Boron or Chick and Hack existing beyond needless comedic relief? I still like Yusuke Tokitsu's art, but the earlier versions of the designs, both WAKA's really early sketches and the dark style in picrel, look so much more appealing to me. I think the ultimate style of Fuga got really sanitized, especially when Yusuke left and got replaced with Itsuki Hoshi for Fuga 3. The designs of the early versions still weren't as out there as Solatorobo's but were carried hard by art style. The Fuga we got just looks boring, especially in 3.

He's nowhere near as interesting or Red or even Waffle was. Even with the development he's received it's still not enough to make him feel like a fleshed out character beyond the points you mentioned of him being the oldest and a leader and wanting to protect everyone. Eventually yes, which is why we're pushing for a general LTB thread. The only time Solatorobo gets mentioned is when it's specifically brought up by somebody or an art piece post and I don't think I've seen Tail Concerto get mentioned even once in any of these threads. There's still a lot of stuff to talk about regarding those two games: characters, world, lore, art, etc. Even how they hold up compared to Fuga. Additionally, the actually meaningful talk and questions about Fuga here are points that have been regurgitated in like all of the threads before this.

We already know that the fuga threads are on life support as is. And the next few months are going to be worse because there is no interesting updates yet.
