At what point did you realize that the Steam Deck, being a gimped laptop, isn't as great of a concept in execution than when it was on paper? 157% slower than a NINTENDO device, It's not a good thing at all

When it was announced? Steam isn't like nintendo making their own games so getting a deck was always going to leave you burned in longevity vs a traditional console.

A deck 2 would still be too underpowered vs a ps5 and would only increase its ability to play games that are cross platform on the switch 2 at which point you'd be better off just getting that instead.

I was fully expecting Switch 2 to be faster than Deck OLED even at lower TDP. Nintendo massively gimped the Switch 2 by giving it a tiny battery and not raising the TDP to 15W.
Using 8nm Ampere instead of 4nm Lovelace was a massive mistake. Switch 2 is going to suffer from performance issue before 2030 the same way Switch 1 struggled after 2020. Very shortsighted move by Nintendo just to save a few bucks on the silicon. They should've just made it $500 and not gimp the SoC.

Valve said the Steam Deck 2 will focus on performance and efficiency. This is the only advantage the Switch 2 has over the current Deck. It's over when the Steam Deck 2 comes because it will be the culmination of what Valve wanted to create with AI upscaling and ray tracing. It'll do everything better than the Switch 2 along with battery life. Nintendo is going to need to upgrade that battery if they are going to compete in 2027.

Switch 2 owners deserve what they get. All they can do is point out slightly inferior hardware on a device that offers more to cope with their overpriced hardware and the with a select few games Nintendo will let them play. Lucky for these companies there are still people stupid enough to buy a limited, restrictive consoles over a PC that you can do more than just game. Imbeciles.

Digital Foundry also ran a test trying to match Switch 2's handheld TDP for Steam Deck and the results are fucked, with Steam Deck not even achieving 1FPS (0.9 frames per second kek)

I like how you fags have to pretend you care about tdp despite seeing literally no benefit from it because the s2's battery is such trash that even its battery life is still worse than the deck's.
The comparison for cyberpunk in particular is also slanted in the s2's favor due to the game nuking its setting below even the lowest pc settings, and the deck still beats it in performance.

The reason I got a deck is not because it is slower or faster than a NINTENDO device, but because it's something I can get access to my steam library to in a portable form-factor (yes, it's considerably more portable than a laptop). Until Switch 2 somehow gains the capacity to run steam, this comparison is irrelevant.

The deck is still extremely efficient, as much as x86 can get. The only reason the switch is more efficient is because it uses arm, but arm is dogshit for compatibility and makes it harder to port things to. And when battery life is still awful on the switch, nintendo fans aren't any benefit from arm at all, only downsides.

Switch 2 has worse performance overall according to the graph. It has better performance per watt but I think you're too retarded to understand that 9W TDP vs 24W TDP is not such a large disparity when the 9W device is confined to a 20W/h battery and the 24W TDP device has a 50W/h battery.

Most games I play on my deck run at or under 13W TDP, btw, so I generally get 3.5-4.5 hour battery life. 24W is like pushing it to the absolute limit for diminishing returns.

>I mean it's a necessarily extremely niche device
I strongly disagree that the Deck is a niche device. It's a device for literally anyone who actually likes video games. By the definition, Nintendo's devices are more niche than the Deck and what it can do as it's FAR more limited, just Nintendo devices have far greater exposure. The only reason the Deck seems niche is because it doesn't have any marketing budget, no physical presence, and normalfags and casuals don't know it exists. That's not niche, that's just unknown, and unknown can change.

It's technically accurate to describe the Steam Deck a really good gaming device, but the process to buy it (first hand) pretty much means you have to
>Have a steam account unless you're in Japan
>Presumably you could infer you've already spent a lot or willing to spend a lot on Steam already
>If you've spent a lot on Steam already you PROBABLY already have a good pc for playing videogames on.
Not that it's totally impossible but virtually everyone that buys one is someone that already has a gaming pc and that's a very small consumer base.
Hell I bought mine with TF2 hats.

Yes. Your device does far less and is therefore more niche. It's specialized for you Nintendo fanboys, whereas the Deck can play damn near everything and is for anyone who likes video games as a whole, and can do a lot more on top of that.

He's a retard for an entirely different reason for calling a switch/2 niche for being a shittier device than a deck.
Since children that walk into a walmart probably amounts to a way bigger demographic than people who'd buy a second gaming computer.

Some games are going to run better on Switch 2 than they do on Deck. That should come with having a dedicated port. The Deck does have more performance customization options, though, so you can still get playable (steady 30 / 40 fps) in a lot of bad ports and more demanding games.

And regardless, no one is buying a Deck at this point because they think the specs are significantly better than the Switch 2's. The devices are similar, overall, but Deck is dramatically cheaper in the long run due to software prices and pseudo backwards compatibility (with existing PC libraries and emulators). The Deck will miss out on modern releases, but it's not like the majority of those are very good. The only area that the Deck is ill-suited for in my opinion is with online multiplayer.

Technically yes, you COULD describe it that way. Which makes the occasional nintendo retard pretending it's at all a good decision to buy a Switch to go along with a PC extra retarded.
But these are specifically gaming devices, and generally a consumer is probably going to mainly use one of these of the current or previous generation.
