One of the things few talk about as reasons why the WiiU and 3DS didn't do well compared to thier predecessors is that they'd often have big games on both systems release on literally the same day, causing people to need to choose which to buy and also which to give thier attention and talk about online or to friends. Releasing games like A Link Between Worlds and Mario 3D World on the same exact day was not a good move since they had to compete with each order for mindshare, and the same goes with Pokemon ORAS and Smash 4WiiU.
