It’s the first thing I did on my first play through 15 years ago. You can walking on the side of the mountain and bypass the death claws. I didn’t even run into any cazdores. I snuck on the monorail real quick and you get points for all the mainline quests you miss once you’re in Vegas. It was only later that I realized I missed where the game was steering me toward

I've had varying success getting Victor to kill them. They're usually too fast and aggro'd onto you instead of Victor, but he's able to kill them all near that grave with the unique knife in it. He's scripted to follow you and warn you the path ahead is too dangerous to take but he'll get sidetracked whenever he notices a Cazador.

From there you simply have to walk along the road and steer clear of the Vault nearby.

I'm surprised that not a lot people know that you can just walk through black mountain without any problems. You just have to sneak past the first muties and watchout for possible nightkin patrols

I've done the rush to Vegas, you can run past the Cazadors still, and for the Deathclaws, when they chase you, they will catch up to you, HOWEVER, there was a couple Powder Gangers up ahead, so I ditched them onto the Powder Gangers as a distraction, and reached Vegas faster. I just go through the central deathclaw area since you can often find stealth boys early on, and even without them, you can usually sneak past the roaming ones easily.

I feel like NPC hitscan weapons (excluding companions) lag behind the Cazadors at full speed when they are attacking. Boone and ED-E can still hit them but I feel like the movement speed fucks with the AI to the point where they are either shooting behind the Cazadors or spending too long aiming.

I forgot about those because I find them forgettable, actually worse, I find them to be tedious quests. Only thing I like about helios is fantastic but hes not enough to justify the shitty quest. Sneak guns+explosives. Set up proximity mines before alerting enemies and luring them into the kill zone. Reverse pick-pocketing any non-trap explosives I happened to pick up onto unsuspecting enemies. Silenced rifles for outdoor sniping, silenced handguns for in-door operating.
Any leftover perk choices put into VATs accuracy bonuses purely to hit special weakpoints like Cazador antenna. I dislike using VATs otherwise.

I may be biased/retarded because Fallout 3 was literally my first RPG and open world game. Never played a game with extensive dialogue options before or speech checks. Blew my mind. I was a hardcore ‘tendie and only got an Xbox to try the new Banjo-Kazooie, didn’t care for most of its games but saw a video review of Fallout 3 on YouTube and was impressed by the NPC interactions. This was 2008. I got completely lost in the game, became my favorite of all time. I realize now it was akin to an isolated island tribal coming to America and trying a Big Mac and thinking that’s as good as food gets. After years of trying other cRPGs and multiple playthroughs of FNV I went back to 3 and it didn’t feel the same at all. I guess it really just was the time, era, circumstance that made it ‘feel’ a lot better than it really was, I think Bethesda just hit a sweet spot with potential interest groups rebooting Fallout like that with 3, at that distinct place and time. TTW is a mess balance-wise. For me its just an overall improved way to play 3, albeit with dumb cyro gun ammo everywhere. Vegas has somewhat linear character progression thats ideal for early-mid game. So in playing both with one character, either you break it entirely by playing FO3 first, or you treat the capital wasteland like an endgame sandbox. This breaks both story and level scaling, and makes it very easy to burn out.
I actually like Fallout 3, but I'd rather play TTW for just 3, and play new vegas with dungeon mods if i really need more combat. Combined they just dont fit together unless you slog through dungeons listening to podcasts or something.

The reason Americans kept cracking down on Natives is because they kept acting uppity whenever they weren't being supervised. It's literally and unironically the coolest armor in any of the fallout games, and I think more than the success and adoration FNV has, Todd is most pissed that the most iconic non-mechanized armor in Fallout was made by the original devs.
Honestly, I'd like a post apocalypse setting where that armor is the baseline for the armor aesthetics and everything forms around it. Rule of cool to 100%.

it's really funny how Bethesda Fallouts make power armor training a mandatory step in the story that the player literally cannot avoid, while in New Vegas it's locked behind two hidden side quests, one of which all 4 branches of the story try to trick you into failing before you even know it exists, and the other requires you to recruit one specific companion and then take him on a world tour of the map, then willfully help out the bad guys of the previous two games
