To make matters worse, they are trying to release this in a genre that has never had an issue having fanservice even in its major releases. You've got the most watered down boring versions of all the characters and with the most lame SFX possible, but with typical millennial "HELL YEAH!" writing slapped on top. Riot is going to hardcore shill the game early on and spend millions paying streamers to play it for a couple of weeks, and then it will completely die and vanish from Earth like their card game did

Was most of the time spent on creating a new engine from scratch or something?
Regardless if the game has good legs or not at start, they won't be able to carry a tag fighter with only 10 characters very long. It's hard to believe they'll be able to add that many more to actually keep interest even close to up. Let alone something that'd be fucking weird for a fighting game like a Yordle.

Capcom (and Tekken) use mocap as a base and then hand animate it after. That is pretty standard for Japanese AAA studios at this point, anon. SF6 has a lot of issues, but animations are not one of them. It looks good in motion, the problems are moreso in the character designs of some of the cast and over reliance on slimetime.
