I don't know but it feels like Kris is closer to Dess than anyone in his own family, and if Dess is the Roaring Knight, that would explain why she lowers him with almost loving gentleness if you deplete enough HP to get the shadow crystal. I think "Don't Forget" was written by Dess for Kris. I don't know why I like this idea so much, but I do, there's something sweet about that kind of platonic love even in this dark kind of story.

You don't even need the Shadow Mantle to beat the Knight, but doing so will make the fight easier, and you get to learn what happened between Tenna and Spamton.

I'll agree with you, that The Knight is harder than all the fights in Undertale's true pacifist, but I wouldn't go as far as to say that it's harder than Undyne on the genocide route. They're dense in good comedy, but I think Toby writes plenty of interactions in such a way that you need to already know the trope.
For example, out of everyone I've seen trying to voice -play clover on youtube or whatever, including voice actors, only a small percentage realize the joke was each head had a personality and disposition that follows the prior innocent->impulsive>pedant
, happy->angry->sad. The reason it fails is because of the execution, toby failed to write clover in a good way while hinting the puzzle or when beginning the fight. Plus, the interaction between the player and the character while maintaining agency is not the most trivial aspect in the gaming industry. The fourth-wall breaking from the player's perspective is a very rare phenomenon, which makes Deltarune's value higher.

Spamton found his Shadow Crystal in the Neo body (contrary to popular belief that it drove him crazy in the first place) which is specifically made with Mettaton's hopes and dreams.
We don't know where exactly the other ones came from or how the other bosses got theirs, beyond that someone left it on Gerson's desk, but Spamton's gives us a good idea for origins.

I think it's worth celebrating something that you personally don't find all that appealing by the virtue of the fact that it seems to speak to so many people. To make a topical comment, I don't care much for Black Sabbath's music despite having listened to many of their albums and learning to play their riffs, but I do respect them a lot.

I just can't agree. I think the characters are well written and the plot is engaging, but so far it's not nearly as ambitious as Undertale's story, despite being a much longer game. The plot seems to dick around a lot, dedicating a lot of time to characters and events that aren't relevant to what I think are the game's themes, and the pacing is kinda weird from the global inter-chapter perspective, which makes it feel unfocused at times. I just don't see Deltarune utilizing analogous novel "out-there" elements in its story. A lot of gameplay elements are lifted from Undertale. Sure, they are refined, and I think Deltarune does a lot of things better than Undertale, the combat system being one of them, but I can't give the game that much credit for the concepts themselves. Undertale was incredibly subversive, utilizing even minute things like its graphics to achieve that effect, by hitting the player with crude simplistic ones, and then demonstrating ones of higher quality just to add to this sensation. I just don't see the same level of detail and commitment to achieve certain effects in Deltarune. But a lot of elements in Undertale only come together near that game's endings, which put things into perspective, so again, I'll hold off judgement on Deltarune until I see the whole thing. To be clear, I still think it's a good worthwhile game even in its current state.

I was a huge fan of Deltarune after Chapter 2 came out and I got around to playing it. Didn't really like the gay stuff (like most men), didn't like Ralsei, but I liked most of the characters and most of the writing, so I pushed through to get to the good parts. The schizobosses in particular were fucking tops. Found all the eggs and Shadow Crystals in the first three chapters. Then the gayness kept increasing and now I'm filtered. The Spamton and Tenna shit ruined my favorite character, Spamton. We could have had a funny and tense interaction with two former friends/business associates through Mike, Spamton sleazy and Tenna more genuine but both over-the-top, but no, you had to imply the email and the television were butt buddies, so Spamton's comeback is just a drawn out, boring, stupid Family Guy joke to dance around the faggotry. And that is already the chapter with the stupid fucking nauseating bisexual cuck throuple shit. Noelle was such an interesting character when she was interacting with Kris in Chapter 2, and I liked how Kris came alive a little more around her. Their history and dynamic was interesting. With Susie, Noelle turns into the most generic, awkward, one-note stupid teenage girl in love caricature I've ever seen. And Susie does too, turning into a generic love interest instead of staying the usual Susie. Nothing ever happened that justifies how into each other they are. Shipfag writing is bad enough, but this gay awkward shipfag writing is another level of pain. At least the ferris wheel was quick. The part where you're eavesdropping on Susie and Noelle had me shouting at my TV to make it stop already, it made me delete the game in frustration, it was worse than trying to beat the Knight 15 times. Even though I was also interested in what was going on with Kris and the phone call, that just wasn't enough for me to push through it anymore.
