Sometimes difficulty isn't the point. It's one of the ingredients, like salt is when making a soup. Sometimes adding too much doesn't make for a good experience. Would Mario be as appealing, if every jump was pixel-perfect? Of course, there are moments where difficulty is very much appropriate. The Sans fight in Undertale springs to mind. From the narrative's perspective that fight being hard unfair bullshit that's frustrating to no end made perfect sense. I think The Knight was meant to seem extremely hard during your first attempt, but past that first impression, it should be challenging, but doable. And I think it's fine the way it is even with the nerf. I think people thought that one attack was a bit too unfair, since it seemed like you were getting hit even when you thought you were in the clear, and that fight wasn't meant to produce that kind of sensation in the player.

I played Earthbound a long time ago. I thought it aged rather poorly. The primary gameplay loop sucks. The battle system is a generic RPG one, just with that one unique quirk when taking damage. The story sucks. All the characters are boring and one dimensional. All that being said, there are many elements of it that I loved. I loved the music and the sound design in general. A lot of people rag on its graphics, but I enjoyed them a lot. I liked the different non-standard settings. I enjoyed the creativity of the designs of basically everything, enemies, levels, set pieces, etc. There were some levels where the visuals paired with the music created a fantastic atmosphere. I specifically loved the endings of sanctuaries. And I also think the climax of the last boss fight was very touching, which I found very surprising, given that I wasn't engaged in the story. And while I disliked the story, I did find some enjoyment in the quirkiness of the writing. In general, I'd say I preferred the games it inspired, like Lisa and Undertale. People here who haven't tried Lisa should give it a try. It has its problems, mainly I don't enjoy its combat system, but it's still a very good game.

Personally I think the implication is that the prophecy isn't so specific about details like when and where a titan will be made. What we see of it in Ch4 is probably all Ralsei knows, alongside some game design elements like who can wear what equipment. In my opinion any theory about the prophecy having already been diverted is shot down by Ralsei acting as though he's still bound by the prophecy near the end of Ch4. Even on weird route he only discusses a potential diversion

On top of that, this is also the first time Ralsei finally gets his head out of his ass and starts acting like a real person with his own character and beliefs. Toby cannot be telegraphing this any harder without having a character pop up at the end of chapter 4 and say "this is what's happening."
Dess is straight up dead. The Knight is the result of trying to bring her back but botching it. Carol wants to spread the dark worlds in the hopes that it will somehow bring her daughter back. The party will be caught with an impossible choice, where they either close the dark worlds and let Dess rest in peace, or let the Knight continue its damned existence if it means the dark worlds and Ralsei can continue. Or worse, find a way to bring Darkners into the Light World, which means Dess' hellish existence becomes permanent.
