I've come to realize that I no longer enjoy games, in fact, I hate them now. What do I do besides kms?

Why do you hate them?

Congrats, you're free
Get a better hobby.

Because I can't help but see them as a pointless waste of time. I can't be immersed anymore or enjoy myself, there is this weird force that barriers me from the game.

Like what?

That's very discouraging. Isn't anything better at this point? What happened? Did you go back to vidya in the end? Do you game despite feeling it's a waste of time?

unemployed loser problems. gaming is fun when you're just jumping in to blow off steam for an hour or two.

I do spend time with friends, socializing with them is definitely good for me, but I can't be with them at all times obviously.

What would these games have in particular? They're just video games like any other

Not him but I migrated from video games to bar trivia and pinball a few years ago. It isn't necessarily completely fulfilling but I have multiple high scores on pins around my city and my team has also won the quarterly trivia tournament a couple of times. In the end I realized it wasn't video games I actually enjoyed, it was just being competitive and winning. I've recently taken up darts and axe throwing as well for similar reasons but I'm not good at them yet. I will be.

Yes, unfortunately
Anonymous No.716414934 [Report]
honestly no idea. i try to play a game and something feels off like i'm wasting time (unless it's almost time for bed then i get small desire to play for 1 hour). i try to watch anime and it's boring like i'm too old for this shit. only thing that seems to help is to go outside but doesn't last long. only time i was perfectly content was when i went out with friends for an entire day and then felt urge to game when i got back. too bad friends are busy these days.

The only leisure focused hobby that's better than video games is maybe reading. Film and television are both inferior, and any other hobby can't reasonably be classified as leisure because it requires some degree of effort to learn.

Shit sucks, I remember playing until 4am and sleeping like 2~3 hours just to go to school at full energy like nothing happened.

Probably just your biological clock saying it's time to hunker down and have a family to provide for. Give it a few years to fuck off and you'll appreciate your free time again.

I'd say it varies per person, but I feel like hitting 40 is a pretty definitive cutoff point for that kinda thing. Alternatively, just find some other way to fulfill your primal needs. Maybe get a dog or a cat or something. Some sort of living creature that requires your attention to not die.
Anonymous No.716415798 [Report]
I switched to playing card games and I have more success at being entertained than playing videogames.

does it feel liberating?
Anonymous No.716416897 [Report] >>716417686
>>716416527
What, bypassing the urge to have and provide for a family? Honestly yeah. Once you reach that point where you kinda just subconsciously accept that that's not your lot in life, you can spend less time worrying about trying to do that and more time focusing on the shit you want to do, whether it's your hobbies or any other thing that will bring you self-fulfillment. If you mean having a pet, I found it helps some in coping through the years. It is, at the end of the day, a living being that depends on you for survival.

How does "effort to learn" not count for video games
Anonymous No.716417249 [Report]
>>716417021
Assuming you've been playing video games since you were a kid and it isn't something you only picked up in adulthood, you don't "learn" video games in the same way you learn individual skills. Every video game has enough similarities for the learning curve to not be so steep as to be completely unapproachable if you've got experience with other video games. Do you have to learn certain mechanics new to a video game that is new to you? Sure. But it's not like it takes you months or years. It takes you like a few play sessions at most to get the gist of it. The only way there's a steeper learning curve is if you're doing the more autistic shit, like trying to speedrun a game or something.

ok i'll be eagerly awaiting the day that urge goes away suddenly like it suddenly came on years back.
