The fact that symbols appear over the bosses telling you exactly how you have to respond to their attack really killed the immersion for me. In Sekiro it feels like 3D space doesn't matter at all, you're just pressing particular buttons in response to what the boss is doing, and you can basically stand still if you just press the right sequence of buttons at the right time.

In Elden Ring, Malenia is so difficult because the waterfowl dance can happen at any time and you're helpless against it unless you can get out of the way, or manage to dodge in exactly the right directions. In Sekiro you just press L1 in the right sequence and it's no big deal. The only way to add difficulty is to make the attack rhythm incredibly complicated. Which is why Malenia is out of place in elden ring.
