I genuinely can't understand how someone could think this. The RPG shit is completely worthless and the combat feels like shit compared to 1.
>>717170041
I know somethings, combat isn't Souls like it's more akin to 1 and 2. Coop is in but not necessary, you can use all 4 at all times, making combos between them as well.
>>717171419
THQ was in a shit state at the time so the game is a huge mess but parts of it are good. The voice acting and music are top tier and the environments look cool.
>>717171375
I think the devs are missing out if they don't double down on this in 4. Have a section where whoever you play as has to fight the other 3 Horsemen. You could even make it a "all in your head" type thing if they don't want an actual conflict between them. Just for gameplay reasons it would be cool to fight the other horsemen.
>>717171504 >>717171419
How so? The only qualm I have with 2 is the memory leak issue in the arena that makes it almost impossible to finish on the pc version. >>717171568
You seem to forget that everything I don't like is reddit/Indian/tranny
Please god no loot shit in this game. It was so tedious in 2. I just want the Horsemen to have their own predefined weapons. War with his Sword and Death with Scythes and Fury with Whip and Strife with guns or something along these lines. I do not want to be picked up level 22 sword of poison damage type bullshit.
>>717171683
I dont hate 2 or anything but the loot shit was very annoying and tedious and the game was very bloated and dragged on too long. Its still pretty good overall.
>>717171837
It's being made by Gunfire
So likely you'll in single player you'll have a set kit for each horseman and there might be character swapping involved to solve puzzles. Say for example, Fury uses her whip to cross large gaps if she's not keeping her Hollow gimmick from 3. Strife's the one who actually gets to shoot shit.
>>717172647
Supposedly when the Seal is broken the horsemen are spawned as they were. Besides the weapons, they'll probably use that to handwave how Death's mask and Fury's horse are back.
It being a coop game makes me think its not going to have any proper puzzles as how are they going to do that in a 4 player coop game? Its probably going to be very combat focused. Just going from room to room essentially.
>>717173675
They've already done puzzles in Genesis and there were a lot of them. It's made Lost Viking or Trine style, most of the puzzles require abilities of 1 character and when they solve it, they can unlock the path for the other character to pass.
>>717174921
There's basic environmental puzzles, and there's a LOT of very cryptic quests that want you to get items from a certain world and bring it back to a different world/interact with a specific NPC, some of them are absurdly intricate and you would never figure them out without a guide, and some are completely dependent on RNG (for example, two of the worlds have to roll a specific seed in the same run or the quest is not completable)
>>717178468
I doubt they'd re-use Liam O'briens audio if he wasn't coming back for 4. This game has been in development for at least a year at this point, they have their VAs
>>717166719 (OP)
One thing I'm mildly concerned about is how much of the Horsemen's abilities and toolkits are going to be in DS4 and how they're going to pace out new stuff for all four Horsemen.
>>717179751
I highly doubt that Death and War will be as fleshed out as they are in 1 and 2 since all four are playable now.
I hope there is some sort of instant character switch mechanic you can do mid-combo to make up for a simpler moveset for each horseman.
>>717181712
Will do one soon, I completed ds1 and 2 more than a decade ago so I was planning to replay them on deck, I never played ds3 nor genesis so it's a good moment for that too
>>717181712
I will when they announce the release date for IIII. >>717179751
Toolkits will most certainly be shrunk, but that will help differentiate the horsemen, so I don't mind. Now what I'd like is if they all had their abyssal armor from the start, but that's probably gonna be cosmetic DLC if we're being real >>717180803
Another fan reporting in
Man I wish I could have finished Genesis, cuz I really enjoyed the gameplay overall. But the abundance of puzzles and reliance of the AI for puzzles killed it for me. Hopefully DS4 won't have puzzles where you need to use your AI controlled companions.
i just finish playing 3 again since the release so many years ago, and started playing genesis.
is really amazing how is easil you can tell that darksiders 3 visual design is made by someone trying to copy joe mad. genesis has so much more soul. that said, i think 3 is still an ok game thats worth a playtrough
>>717187891
The only multiplayer game I can recall where something like this was the case is Castlevania: Harmony of Despair.
It's kinda hard to keep their gameplay as it is when >War had three specific weapons (each can be enchanted) + artifacts + general skill tree >Death had three types of weapons (equipment had Diablo-like stats instead of unique abilities) and trinkets + two skill trees to choose from + puzzle-related abilities >Fury had six specific weapons-magics (most of which also acted as abilities) + some upgradable trinkets + general skill tree >Strife had different types of ammo + artifacts for solving puzzles + general skill tree + entire bead system for improving stats and skills
Even if you use DS1's system as a basis (all weapons are unique, serve for solving puzzles, can be enchanted and can get new combos) you need to deal with Death's lack of unique weapons and Fury's overabundance of unique weapons.
>>717189151
then i dont have any hope of the game having good combat. they made the combat of darksiders 3 incredible simple and boring and thats just with 1 character.
>>717189261
There's no way they would make Darksiders 4 and not make all 4 playable, that was the plan from the beginning if you listen to the interviews of the Vigil game devs back in the early 2010s
>>717189576
well yea but thats the problem, thay can barelly handle a game with 1 character.
im specting a shitfest
i hope im wrong because i really like darksiders.
>>717188121
The camera placement may confuse you, but the game is absolutely a Darksiders game through and through.
War controls exactly like he did in Darksiders 1 and Strife feels a bit similar to Dante.
Don't let the isometric perspective fool you.
>The label on the bottle bears a recognizable symbol, hinting at some arcane significance. The barely legible text on the label adds to the mystique, with only the words "not alone..." standing out, leaving the rest shrouded in mystery.

I can agree and disagree at the same time >Makers Realm = 100% perfect, I wish the rest of the game was like that >Land of the Dead = way too fucking big and barren compared to other realms, but at least there's gorillion side content to do >Angel Realm = Earth section sucks ass, and... it's way too fucking short, it's just one dungeon and that's it >Demon Realm = even LESS than Angel one, it's literally one dungeon with Samael and nothing else
If every realm had the same size and amount of content as Makers one (plus there'd be no bugs like it was on release, at least with PS3 version) then the game would be fucking 10/10 in my eyes. Otherwise - yeah, game never recovers after Makers realm and Land of the Dead drags for way too fucking long only for last two realms to be stupidly short in comparison.
>>717172054
That's the thing: pretty much everyone expected Genesis to be some Diablo-esque rougelike game with randomized loot and levels.
In reality, it's more of a standard Darksiders game including puzzles, platforming, War's melee combat, horse riding proper levels, etc. but with a birdseye view perspective.
Strife meanwhile basically plays like a twinstick shooter with light melee and there's also co-op.
