That's decent. It's 5x what the Steam Deck has sold.

They should keep making normal consoles. What if the PS6 is shit, or overpriced? They could have another Xbox 360 situation that keeps the brand alive. But Satya Nutella is too obsessed with muh numbers go up and muh AI to have a reasonable long term strategy.

Anon, even the Xbone had hit like 40 million units after 5 years.
At this rate the XSeries won't even hit 50 million total lifetime sales.
Hell, it may not even hit 40 million total considering the current state of the economy.
They'd better hope that GTA 6 is a once-in-a-lifetime masterclass success that manages to singlehandedly boost XSS sales, otherwise they're fucked.

The Xbox Series consoles were engineered at a cost of 600-700 dollars production for Series X. With the Series S possibly 500 dollars. There were times were Xbox price dropped them to 150-300 dollars (infamous Christmas sale at Costco). Fast forward today and Xbox
>isn't sold in most European countries
>Walmart Canada doesn't carry it
>Costco in America doesn't even have Xbox on their online systems
>Middle East retailers don't carry it
>The EU localization branches were laid off
>8 year old Nintendo Switch 1 outsold Xbox Series in America last month NPD Circana sales
Probably a good estimate of 25-32 million consoles sold. Is this indicative of next general? We're now in a post Xbox is a third party publisher pivot, prospected customers would know now that Xbox has no desire to make exclusives. The big hailmary that Xbox diehards (paid marketers) have proposed is Xbox PC fusion. The leaked ASUS Rog Ally with an Xbox sticker costs 1,100 Euro dollars. lol. Anyone with above 10IQ recognizes that third party OEMs need to markup their products like prebuilt PCs because they don't get money from Steam/GOG/EpicStore marketplace. There's also this huge issue with online being free on PC, which means GamePass won't grow because why pay for online on console? All of Xbox issues keep snowballing out of control the more you think about it. We didn't even get a chance to talk about Microsoft cancelling Rare's games, Perfect Dark reboot, and that Fable reboot game is delayed (going into 8 year dev cycle now).

>“We’re not in the business of out-consoling Sony or out-consoling Nintendo. There isn’t really a great solution or win for us. I know that will upset a ton of people, but it’s just the truth of the matter. When you’re third place in the console marketplace and the top two players are as strong as they are and, in certain cases, have very discrete focus on doing deals and other things make being on Xbox hard as a team - that’s on us, not on anybody else - ....But we’re not in a position - and I see out there, I see commentary, that if you just build great games everything would turn around. It’s just not true that if we go off and build great games, all of the sudden you’re going to see console shares shift in some dramatic way. We lost the worst generation to lose in the Xbox One generation when everybody built their digital library of games....
>I see a lot of pundits out there that kinda want to go back to the time when we all had cartridges and discs and every new generation was a clean slate and you could switch the whole share. That’s just not the world that we are in today. There’s no world where Starfield is an 11/10 and people start selling their PS5s. That’s not gonna happen.”

Series X/S feature parity is what killed their console sales after series X flopped, MS should have allowed devs to just release games on Series S as is, so they were available day one to overwhelming majority Xbox uses instead of forcing devs to spend extra time getting niche things like split screen working on Series S

See? Why do Microsoft marketers keep trying to insert themselves with Steam/Valve. Gabe Newell does not give a shit about Xbox, at all. In the slightest. Not even during Windows 7/Vista Games for Windows Live era.

Valve Corp would like you to buy Steam games and/or their dedicated handheld. Period. Why do Xbox astroturfers keep trying to drag others into their mess? An Xbox PC hybrid would mean: Microsoft loses their marketplace royalty cost from game revenue and more importantly their paid online subscription is lost when PC gamers don't have to pay for online on Steam. The whole thing is so unnatural to drag Valve here. It's a very obvious desperation from the Xbox side to look relevant. Most PC gamers have too much time to play their backlog of Steam games or pirated games, why the fuck would they want to rent games? Are Xbox viral marketers fucking outsourced retarded marketing groups in India?

With more and more people playing older games of lesser graphics just to have a good volume of games to choose from, I think there'll be an eventual market adjustment where developers focus more on gameplay experience rather than on graphics. Overwatch 2 has around 50 million active users, and the last Zelda game sold over 20 million copies while Minecraft has sold 300 million copies. All three of these games focus on the gameplay experience instead of graphical realism.

That's more the reality of the failing PC gaming market. 4K GPUs aren't mass market adaption (less than 50% of Steam hardware survey can play at 4K). The cheapest 16GB VRAM GPU that's viable for 1080p recommended and 1440p gaming cost 450 dollars. You're drawing conclusions that aren't part of the real world pragmatism. The group of e-sports gamers don't have viable gaming PCs that can play Raytracing required games like Doom The Dark Ages. Borderlands 4 has an 8 core CPU requirement that half the Steam Hardware User survey don't have. Windows 11 has a TPM requirement for the CPU/motherboard BIOS that many on /v PC vegan/ can't afford to upgrade to.

Rare's cancelled game, Perfect Dark Reboot cancellation, Fable not being complete and delayed, Scalebound cancelled, etc etc. There are regions in the world were the Xbox console isn't in stock because Microsoft stopped distributing in many markets due to the Xbox being an unpopular console brand.

I felt the feedback from the BoD discussion on being too confident and maybe this will just reinforce that perception, I get the need to be humbly confident but today was a good day for us.
The Switch 1 has sold 150+ million units, which is 7.5 more than the Xbox Series consoles. The Xbox One and Series consoles added up still don't outsell the Switch 1. The PS5 has outsold roughly 3 to 1 at 80 million vs Series at mid 20 million units. Microsoft leak confirms Phil Spencer wanted to buy Nintendo and Valve
>The Microsoft FTC leaks suggest that Xbox boss Phil Spencer was reportedly interested in acquiring Nintendo and Valve.
>That comes from a fresh round of leaks from non-redacted court documents about the US Federal Trade Commission's case against Microsoft over its deal to buy Activision Blizzard.
>In one of those documents, we see an email exchange between Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer, chief marketing officer Chris Capossela, and commercial chief marketing officer Takeshi Numoto from 2020. Loosely titled "random thought," the trio talks up the odds of pulling an ambitious acquisition of Nintendo off, which Spencer says would be "a career moment" if it came to pass.
>Less is said of Valve, though Spencer does mention the Steam storefront operator and games developer alongside Nintendo as, at that point, Microsoft had seen a full write-up on the pair and would fully support an acquisition if the chance arises.
>We also see firmer talk of ZeniMax and Warner Bros Interactive, with the former deal eventually going through.

the games that popped off this year were mostly cheap indies because they're $20-$40 instead of $70-$80. gamers don't want to pay full price for a game they'll play for 2 weeks when they can play a free game for years.

It's not sustainable for Xbox. Valve can subsidize their failing Steam Deck because every game sold is on THEIR marketplace. Their true return of investment is keeping the consumer locked on their marketplace. Microsoft opening the doors to Valve/EpicGameStore/GoG removes their online subscription paywall and they make no money from customers buying games.

The average Xbox user in this thread is a retard so I have to dumb it down
>Customer A buys Steam Deck. Buys Dead Space Remake on Steam.
>Customer B buys Playstation 5. Buys Dead Space Remake physical or digital.
>Customer C buys Xbox PC hybrid at $1000+. Buys Dead Space remake from EpicGameStore.
>None of these customers pay Microsoft for online access.
Do you see the problem yet? Or why prebuilt PC manufacturers sell their computers at a higher price than building yourself? The Series S is an abject failure in that it set out to make digital only renting the commonplace landscape for the game industry, what future do you envision a replacement to be?

So phil is just going full retard as he does and then when microsoft sees xbox losing money they come in and cut and cancel at will because they're not even monitoring them outside of the income reports. Such a cluster fuck of an operation they have going over there.

>It's not sustainable for Xbox
Of course it isn't but this is the microsoft way. Instead of doing the obvious thing and canning the xbox division asap to save money they're going to do every retarded idea under the sun thats doomed to fail until they finally give up.
>you're a retarded xbox user
Ah yes me predicting their next move makes me a believer, that makes sense. Watch them brand PCs, they've all but said they're going to do this.

Sony likes to pretend they have the pockets that Microsoft has and it leads them to be retarded. Microsoft can only skirt by because of their money, they don't have any creatives left.
Sony has few, Nintendo has slightly more.
Let them be free with the games, don't use extra cash chasing trends and buying shitty devs

Ballpark how much money do you think Microsoft has spent on Fable reboot alone? They would have to gain new GamePass subscriptions to even out this bizarre math they have for renting DRM.
