Pretty much. I am but a mere stormbab (if you don't count me dropping the game in 2.1 out of boredom, or dropping the 1.0 beta because it was shit) but ShB was absolutely where both the big gameplay and story changes started. I still liked ShB's story a lot but it didn't feel like the XIV from before at all, it felt more like a standalone classic JRPG. The story from before felt more like Ivalice-like fantasy politicking while being overall more grounded, which I enjoyed more.

For a story perspective the game should have ended at 6.0 and a new MMO began. There is no where else to go, the Wol is too strong, even the Scions are too strong each one on their own is as strong as the Wol was in HW or Stormblood. Most major mysteries have been solved, most threats have been conquered, most story lines have been solved.
What else can they do that will be interesting, threatening, intriging but also remain mysterious?

Before people say Merycidia, I don't really care because I've defeated Nidhogg, Primal Bahamut, defeated Midgardsormr, had Middy travel with me for a while, the dragons are not a threat or a mystery anymore what more can be done there that needs covering?
