My issue isn't AI being incorporated into the workflow of gamedevving. The real problem is that very few devs put in that extra effort to make their art gens not look AI generated. It's lazy and tells me they don't give a shit about their end product, so why should I?

It's not even that hard: some extra prompting, in-painting, some Photoshop work to fix anything weird or inconsistent, tracing the sloppa and then recompositing to smooth out jagged AI edges, adding some manual effects or facial edits for polish, generating, adding some simple animations like bobbing or "breathing", so many different ways to make look better and 99% of devs using AI publish exactly what they generated without a care.

He would never buy a single player game, even ones that he says look cool, because he thinks it's beneath him, yet he has no problem concocting a shitty game with AI. The time and expense of that kind of "fixing" starts to add up after a while. And it starts to get egregious when added on to all the effort spent genning in the first place. If you listen to music for the pure entertainment of listening to something, then you are the type who will enjoy reading AI-made visual novels.

I agree, but I think I can kind of understand why that happens. It's a dopamine hit. They, from their perspective, think they have something cool and unique to share so they upload and don't realize how many other people did the same thing.
Most people who do that really only get into it on a entry level and don't dive into the full autism that can be AI genning when you start exploring things like advanced tags, tag mixing, loras or inpainting. Image gen is a tool like any other and the more effort you put in the more you get back. It still makes me laugh that whenever I check out Japanese AI stuff on DLsite that pretty much all of them are just using the "Default" NAI style.

Even children nowadays can spot AI in seconds since now every school has that one cringe kid trying to look talented saying that they made their AIslop even though everyone just points out that it's obviously AI.

Not really. You just really need the GPU memory at the end of the day. I can't really provide guides since there really is no modern guides and all the older guides reflect training on SD1.5 and not SDXL. You can look up something called Easy Training Scripts on Github if you want to look into a pretty easy to use trainer. Always train on base models if you can. Ex If you are using Illustrious or a Noob variant then train your loras on Illustrious base.
