Going with DK and Mario Kart over a big 3d Mario was definitely a mistake. ToTK was also a mistake in hindsight, since it was supposed to be the next big Zelda release but it didn't feel like it due to all the recycled content and now it will probably be a while before another big zelda too.

I'm sure it's selling well, but I don't understand why. Then again, I don't understand why the PS5 sold so well either, but it did. These consoles have no games and people just buy them frantically anyways.

Remember, sonyfags were also hooting and hollering for months in their favelas with the PS5 having record-breaking hardware sales in its first year, but look what happened when Sony got comfortable resting on sales figure laurels.

Outside of the usual grifters and loud mouths, World seems well recieved, I don't think the drop off will be any time soon, or ever, if it sells like MK8D did (and still is).

One game a month is fantastic compared its competition, and better than what we got when the Switch 1 released, and you know how that ended up. I'd say that we're in for another few years of the usual suspects screaming Nintendoomed while it keeps chugging along. Personally, I'll be getting my own Switch 2 during the holidays I think, my own Switch 1 is finally dying on me.

I don't think there's any numbers, but I wouldn't be surprised if the sales fell off after a while. The main reason the system sold so much on release is because for the first time basically ever, they overproduced the hell out of it. All other console releases, they run out within a day or two (or faster, depending on scalpers), but Nintendo had every damn store stockpile the shit out of them in advance.

The last time a console launched with a 3D Mario was the N64. Since then a 3D Mario has been released 7 months to a year after the console release date. Launching with what is now their biggest franchise, and a very well received platformer a month later, it's one of the better console launches. Zelda can be years away, but who knows if Tears was actually a B team and they've been working on a next gen Zelda. Probably not though.

We don't know how good we had it when we were getting a new 3D Zelda every 2-4 years with their own art styles and actually felt like they were made from scratch. If you didn't like one game, chances are you'd love the other that came just a couple years later. Now we wait 5-6 years for games that had no business taking that long and severely lacking in the dungeon and variety department.

Nier was always very slow with the updates, I remember the PC port being abysmal without the FAR mod before they actually fixed it years later. I didn't really have much trouble with it on the Switch 2 so far despite the incompatibility, but from what I've read the endgame stages are prone to crashing. Might be both, some guy on reddit apparently contacted KT support about it and they told him that as of now, the Ryza DX trilogy will run 1080p/4k 60fps on PS5 while Switch 2 is 1080p 30fps. They weren't even that different, Zelda fans often got accused of liking the same shit always. Structurally Zelda games were very similar for the longest time. BotW was the biggest change the series suffered since maybe Majora's Mask. The issue is that TotK comes out as unfocused and a good amount of its content is recycled. There is very little excuse for this. This reminds me of Piranha Bytes and the absurdly long time they took to release their last game before they went bankrupt, which ended up being far worse than the previous entry. It used to be that a system could have a light launch lineup but if it got a big enough install base anyway then youd get some games late in its life span anyway. But in present day, its hard for me to imagine the switch 2 turning things around. Dev cycles are so fucking long now that the ps5 and xsex to this fucking day have almost nothing, why would switch be different? And the last smash and zelda were so big (not that bigger is better but its how consumers see it) that theyre gonna be really tough to make sequels for. And nintendo has had a habit of shelving IPs some for long stretches of time, others to this day.

There are Ys XI Proud Nordics, Rune Factory, Bravely Default, Kiwami 2, the new Zelda musou, Elden Ring amongst other Switch 2 games and I'm fairly confident the amount of games on the console will be astounding. It's nowhere alike to the former Switch 1 by comparison when it came out (and hence I didn't bother getting a Switch before the coof).
Besides that, Switch 2 also runs a bunch of Switch 1 games noticeably better, with shorter loading times too.

The main problem right now is that Nintendo somehow got so fucking paranoid that they barely gave out any Dev Kits before launch. Now every single company that's trying to get in on the Switch 2 as to rush to get something on there as fast as possible, which means a shitty rushed port of their 3-6 year old games are all they can manage. We won't be seeing a steady supply of proper simultaneous release/exclusive 3rd party releases until like the end of 2026 because of it.

Sure, a shitty game where retards who wished to play as Zelda finally got their wish, but they still designed the game around some weird link transformation anyway, so they didn't even have confidence for their own echo combat system. Mediocre dungeons with no central mechanics other than one in hebra with its melting and freezing gimmick, retarded blues clues characters, shitty plot that feels like a romhack. It's telling that the first 5 minutes of the game where you play as link is the most entertaining thing in it. Nintendo is hellbent on making Zelda this creative franchise with no proper limits, when all these mechanics do is make one a solid foundation of game design, flawed and mediocre.
