For me it's not that te story is gotyay material, is that is told well enough, you don't have meandering dialog repeating what you just saw, you don't have people t-posing giving you loads and loads of exposition, the sprites are actually quite expressive in how limited they move and now thanks to budget increase the fights are becoming more of an spectacle more than the 'gameplay' part on main story chapters.
