focus your deck like 4-2 split, especially SPD/STM for med runners and SPD/WIT for sprinters. plenty of variations based on the trainee and what you have though.
assuming you blew your load on kita banner you should have most the relevant SRs maxed, if not keep pulling on big mama's banner. not like anything else is important for a long time after kitasan and creek banners - SR sweep, narita, king halo, eishin, cafe, helios, fuji etc.

don't really need to spend any SP in campaign its mostly a stat check you are always winning. this way you get as much hints for cheaper skills = more skills in the end. get rares (gold) if you only want rating score (not necessarily making the best actual build). can pick up something if you are struggling though like Maestro or a good closing speed/accel skill (hell even Focus, if you are not training wit much you probably getting a lot of bad starts)
and don't be afraid to move like, a late surger to pace for example if the midfield is packed with shitters that will block you. clock tax is normal though, game has RNG.

debut year focus on getting mood up and maxing your bond especially for the most important card/s in deck - usually Kita/Creek.
think ahead a little and rest more. early May is 4 turns until summer, which is 4 turns of maxed facilities - you should go into summer max energy if possible. just rest a shit turn so you have energy when that triple rainbow pops.
but prio SPD/STAM even on average turn if kita/creek is there - you want to level the facility.

finally, get lucky. a good run can still end like B+. though if building for PVP and not just score, more likely to get B than A. you need loads more Stam which is tough.

The affinities are based on two things.
The starting affinity is based on their terrain, distance and strategy aptitudes. Matching aptitudes will have better starting affinity (for example Rudolf and Opera O which are both Medium-Long and Pace-Late).
Then you get additional affinities based on the amounts and types of races they did during career. For example if that Rudolf and Opera ran the same Medium & Long races during their career, it will have better affinities than Rudolf and Opera where Rudolf ran a lot Miles races.
Currently G3 to G1 races count for affinity, but later there will be updates where only same G1 races counts as the bonus affinity.

TLDR just run a lot of same G1 races for two similar aptitude Umas to get a better affinity.

Not sure about winning twice, but each G1,as previously stated is another point for parent compatibility.
If you dont run gorrilion races,at least consistently run and win the same ones.

Also imo, runs are cheap and carats can drop from races as well. If you like the game you know, you just play it.
