You don't go to therapy for advice, you go to become receptive to change. Usually people know what to do to improve their lives, they just can't act on it. Most midwits go trough life thinking other people are retarded for not listening to their shitty advice because if they would then everything would be easily fixed.

Good advice takes into account what the person is actually receptive to do. Little steps lead into huge change. Just telling someone to do a massive thing and them shutting completely off is not good therapy by any means even if the person is correct with their assessment and resulting advice.
