Elizabeth (or rather Leaf, as she eventually realizes in BS2 wanted absolutely everything, and her ideal husband was one who would protect her from all harm. To incentivize the player to continue playing with her, Leaf's only remaining option to kill Elizabeth was to directly smite her.
An alternative explanation can be found in BS2: Leaf is a good but unimaginative writer who only knows how to copy, mimic, and parody. This is still leagues above the other outer goddesses, which is why they copied her garden for BS2.

I recommend jacking the statue up to 1, and increase it by one every time you stomp a boss with zero effort. This keeps the game nicely difficult, enough that you have to stay awake to beat tougher mobs and strategize with your gear and summons to take down bosses.
By the time I got to the castle I was on difficulty 6 and it felt pretty good throughout.

There is "saving" and there is "Salvation".
In BS1 you can get all of them at any point, you never get locked out. In BS2 progressing too much can lead to fairy tales becoming unavailable.

Many of the games from the 2010s and up until a few years ago were grandfathered in, including Summer Memories. There's a reason m\why Summer Memories has content listed for just "strong language" where Winter Memories includes "Nudity and sexual content, mature content" etc. There's also the issue that some publishers got grandfathered in as well, but generally the rules have changed more than once over the past decade or two. Also, none of these games are outright unambiguous loli/shota stuff so that by itself puts things in a different category from what is being discussed here.
