From what I know Trails and Neptunia are pretty different, so I think Towa would make a perfect tsukkomi to the usual sillyness that happens in Gamindustri. Falcom is represented but I believe the devs decided to make her reference Ys more than Trails.

What game are you playing today?
After playing more Capcom vs SNK 2, I decided, for whatever reason, to play some SNK vs Capcom Chaos. Every time it blows me away how bafflingly awful it is and how laughable it is compared side by side to the legendary CvS2.

From the weirdly dark atmosphere to the obviously traced-over sprites to the terrible Engrish translation it makes you wonder how SNK could put this out. At least the roster is pretty big and some of the sprites like Demitrt are quite nice.

Showed some friends Ragnarok Battle Offline today and played 3p couch co-op. The game was pretty easy solo, but with 3 players it actually became pretty tough! Between the increased enemy HP pools and my teammates' general inexperience, we spent quite a few hours on the first two stages! They loved it though, an excellent fan-game.
When they left I ground out a bit more SF2T. I found a way to combo into Dictator's super, but my chances of landing it in a real match are slim-to-none... The damage is so insane though!

Played some Conquest of Elysium 5. Honestly this game plays a bit like HoMM, which was a nice surprise since i like HoMM; I was even able to pick a faction that's somewhat similar to my favorite one from that series. So far most of my experience in this game has been getting murdered by random wildlife and later getting murdered by literal demons from Hell (which i've summoned myself without considering the fact that they might not like that). It's a pretty fun game.

The Fire Emblem influences on Unicorn Overlord were always overstated, it's mostly flavor and some archetypes. This is the real spiritual predecesor, outside of gambits it's very similar. I did enjoy "programming" behavior in UO, but Ogre is still a good time.

Why I should care about Trails 1st remake if I had never tried the franchise before? Ive read its basically a run of the mill shonen story for the most part, but does it have an interesting twist with combat or something?

It's a run of the mill shounen type adventure JRPG with basic combat but its claim to fame has been its incredibly dense world-building and shared story/universe between games.
Trails is like 11+ games in at this point and Sky is the very first entry into that saga. While I personally don't feel that the games are worth playing past a certain point, the first five games in the series are absolutely solid.
So tl;dr, the story is good and the ending is executed decently if the game has successfully sold you on the main two characters and their relationship dynamic. Plus the music is fucking awesome.
That being said, I've heard some shitposty rumors about the remake that I have not gotten answers to yet.

You don't need to wait for the Sky remake. The plot of Sky 1st Chapter has basically nothing to do with the Daybreak arc since they're set so far apart both chronologically and in terms of physical distance in the setting.
The only really big series spoiler you'll get from playing Daybreak before the others is Renne's character in general. But she won't be in the remake anyway since she's from the second Sky game not the first. It's not that big a deal but fair warning.
Otherwise the Daybreak games are fairly isolated from the others and are intended as another jumping on point like most of the arc starting games.

Same I started the series with ToCS1. I went in blind with no spoilers. I thought it was boring at the start, just a slice of life high school simulator. When shit picked up at the end I was fully invested, especially shut Crow’s betrayal. I jumped straight into ToCS2 and marathoned the whole game. The ending was so bittersweet, I full on cried at Crow’s death and was pissed off at Rean going full good goy and helping to invade Crossbell.

Dominions is a ton of fun; easily one of my all-time favorite games even if I usually only ever play single-player. If you decide to get Dominions 5 before jumping to 6 for whatever reason, the Hellenika modpack has some of the most unique and coolest nations available. To name a few, there's U which are a bunch of sciapod troglodyte cavemen, Bethel She'em, which is basically akin to playing as the Heavenly Host at the time of Armageddon, Ylthule, which is basically centered around having an OP as fuck Pretender and only fielding independents, etc. Really, if you're interested in just single-player Dominions, I'd probably pick 5 over 6 since there's a SHITLOAD of nation mods to mess around with and the additions added by 6 aren't nearly as big a leak compared to the leap from 4 to 5.
