What are you, retarded? Donkey Kong becomes Cranky Kong when he ages. The kongs in all of these games aren't necessarily the same people. This is why we've seen Cranky Kong go from being DK Father's to Grandfather and Diddy no longer being DK's nephew.

The DK in Bananza is very explicitly the same DK from Country, because of Diddy and Dixie Kong explaining their past adventures with, and rescuing DK.

There are more things suggesting that Pauline is a descendent of the grown-up Pauline we know.
Also there's that Jumpman and Mario are sometimes distinguished, and there's "Lady" and Pauline in the same way. One of Pauline's late-game outfits is specifically based on Lady.

Otherwise the timeline placement is unclear and it's not something we're supposed to think too hard about.

I fully believe that originally you were going to have Odd Rock the whole game as a helper but they added the music pauline story part way through. Maybe odd rock would have stayed in that form or be a new character. I think originally the Feast Layer was going to have a Lion Elder and your bananza form was what Player 2 does with pauline.

A DK RPG would be great just to see the other characters get more lengthy dialogue and characterisation since those are my fave parts of Mario and Luigi. Could explore Diddy and Dixie being a couple more, Cranky maybe ragging on how things are to lengthy or chatty with him saying he liked platformers better and of course King K Rool stealing any scene he was in. Also unique Kremling characters as bosses, enemies and King K Rool getting another crazy JRPG form at the end or summing some evil Kremling god named Kalamity or Kataklysm might be fun. Could even have a fun subversion of it trying to posesses K Rool but he just consumes it and gains greatvpowers for the climax of the game.

I think it helps that despite the comparison to when Ganon hijacks the plot, it feels much more earned due to K Rool's absence making it more justified, the DK games much less narrative focus, how the does slightly foreshadow it while fully utilising King K Rool beyond just he is there as the Final Boss and that Void Kong does get enough screen time and presence to be a good villain but also one clearly small potatoes to K Rool.

The game itself felt a lot like Zelda BoTW, cool gimmicks, but shallow repeatative gameplay where the individual elements never really came together to offer any kind of challenge. Zelda completely fell apart at the climax, where Bananza was at it's strongest at the end. Difficulty ramped up, and juggling all your abilities started to become fun. If the whole game had been more like that it would have been amazing

General Scales is funny to me because he was always intended to be a mere pawn to a greater threat even as early as Dinosaur Planet, and said greater threat (Drakor) is also in a way a red herring to the true true evil (the Krazoa).

So it's not so much that "Andross upsurbed Scales" that's the problem as much as it's really "Rare made all of this somewhat deep and sophisticated sci-fi fantasy lore and then proceeded to scrap literally all of it and awkwardly condense the two main villains' role into Andross", the same way Sabre and Krystal had their roles awkwardly condensed into Fox's.

What would the GAMEPLAY be?
I think something like Wario needs to earn coins and complete challenges/story beats to "rebuild" levels. Rebuilding some things opens up more stuff, more "build chains" etc. Core gameplay is basically Bananza but with less emphasis on environmental destruction, and used power ups from WL4.

I had accepted the Kremlings would never be back and that Smash was a swan song. So I flipped the fuck out when this happened, I had avoided all social media like the plague and hadn't been spoiled. It just kept getting better and better from there. Honestly I still can't believe it,
I will say however, that I felt bad that Void Kong was just fucking ejected from the game entirely from that point on, I honestly thought he was an awesome villain. If that had actually been the Banandium Root, the little shit would have basically fucking won. I hope he comes back in the future.

I realized his Japanese name is actually kinda sorta a nod to DK64. Over there he's called キング "ロットン" クルール which just translates to King "Rotten" K. Rool.

Which is kinda like his DK64 persona name where he was King "Krusha" K. Rool, except now he's "Rotten" instead of "Krusha". The fact that the final fight takes place in a boxing arena that's obviously meant to be a homage to DK64 makes this reference more apparent.

I had it spoiled for me, so all I could think of was how long the cutscene leading up to it was. It felt like there was a scene missing between DK getting rocked and unrocked. Yes, that was why Pauline needed to sing, but it was all one incredibly long cutscene from Void's defeat to K. Rool's reveal, broken up by a single drumbeat prompt. It just felt poorly paced and there could have been something in the middle to break it up.

My only gripe with the K. Rool reveal is that DK didn't do the funny AWOOGA eye thing like does in DKC2's K. Rool fight. For all the wacky expressions he does during the gameplay, this DK can be oddly stiff at times.

Like, it's also kinda strange that DK and Pauline don't hug, even at the end. Just an awkward thumbs up that makes me think I'm watching a Modern Sonic cutscene. I know the Japs are weird about that kinda thing but c'mon man, it would've been cute.

There's a stone tablet written by one of the Kritters that says that the root ensnared K.Rool and bloacked up the sinkhole as he was about to jump in to follow the kremling krew down there. It's why his belly is wrapped in banandium when you and Void first show up. One of Fractones in the core also mentions it's able to sense evil intent when it's fully awakened, so it was defending itself from K.Rool by keeping him and itself in hibernation.
