I'll add that while the gameplay is better, the amount of content in the game is absolutely abysmal. You could easily double your playtime after the main story with side content in the first game and not get tired, but not only is the story in the second game shorter, and even split between peter and miles, there's maybe 10 hours of side content total. The first game had like 20 enemy bases, the second one has like 5, first game 10 types of collectibles, second game like 3, first game had probably 30 of the taskmaster challenges, second game has like 10 of the equivalent. All this combined with the fact that the map is bigger makes the game completely barren of content.

It's even more shallow than that: Bendis, the person who made Miles and a couple other characters, started pushing his OCs HARD during his tenure at Marvel because he would get royalties for them using his characters thanks to the way the contracts were worded. So he stacked every buzzword onto his characters and made them the most sad teenagers imaginable and started trying to substitute existing characters in books he worked on.

It's genuinely the most obvious scam but more than that: it's genuinely proof the people in charge at Marvel and the Editors are legit the stupidest people imaginable or outright taking bribes for what goes on in the comics.

The canoning of Spider-verse is a very awkward move because regardless of outcome it locks in too much. If the spiders are all proven wrong they've still with great multitude all experienced overlapping canons, perhaps even in the same order. Just read the old Spider-Man comics until the part where Norman Osborne kidnaps MJ while she is about to give birth, then switch to reading Spider-Girl. You are correct, but that doesn't apply to the game world. Peter has to have his Spider-Sense for the gameplay to work so they just never bring up that idea and it continues to work in the boss fight against Venom later.
One thing they do make very clear is that this Venom is completely immune to fire, and I'm convinced they only did this to double down on Miles being useful against him (electricity and the sounds of his epic beats)
