fucked up my post, sorry.
I'm not saying DD2 is better, flawless, or anything like that. As there is a sense of wonder I got more from 1 than 2, not including BBI, since that was an expansion. Being able to visit the Shadowfort post-Grigori, going down the hole where the Goblin fleed, then coming across a Hydra was amazing. I think those moments are few and far between. It's about the same spectacle as when I stumbled across the Gorgon, though i slightly prefer the Gorgon purely because it seems like a more unique encounter and more 'thought' put into it. Frozen living things on the way, your pawns mentioning them, able to investigate them. The Hydra is just there, and you're more likely to move there because of the bounty as opposed to free exploring. And you'll come across one in the Everfall, and if you plan on doing the Everfall repeatedly, you'll come across him a lot.
If you can't get in Battahl through the gates, you go around. That felt like an adventure to me, with the long and perilous trek, not being able to fully heal with the thousands of harspuds I keep finding, and I didn't have a portcrystal yet. I don't think you can get one as easy as you could like in 1. Unless I'm getting Dark Arisen confused with vanilla, but you find a portcrystal at the bottom of the Everfall when you first visit, right? I don't think there was any journey in 1 that compares to that singular moment. For me, DD2 has the highest and lowest, while DD1 stuck near the middle through the whole game.
I don't know, maybe I'm' just rambling. thanks for ignoring my blog post.
