Lmao I can’t believe that thing’s actually on Steam now. For years it was some cursed shareware you had to torrent off sketchy abandonware sites. That weird crash loop if you tried to run it on XP made it feel possessed or some shit. A schizocore game needs to weird you out. It needs to do blood splatters on the ceiling when you kill something. It needs to display test in cyrilic letters but in no real language. it needs to have characters that appear to be sentient.

I don't know why, but Psychopomp feels like a checklist of what constitutes insano/schitzo core vidya. It has some neat bits and nuggets but overall it feels really artificial. Plastic even.

i'm not sure that there are any games which actually are truly "schizophrenia-core" other than deus ex 1

there are "schizoid-core" games which embody extreme loneliness/isolation (eg. Transcendence or Subnautica)

there are "schizo-core" games which embody some of the cultural misapprehensions about schizophrenia and basically look like LSD trips (eg. Hylics)

but there aren't any games aside from original deus ex which embody feelings of hypertrophic threat awareness, perceiving threats that are invisible to the public, uncovering complicated antisocial scheming by authority figures (governments, corporations, cults, etc)
only deus ex 1 comes to mind

It's like half that with a bunch of schizo memes, but another half dealing with the disintegration (and eventual reintegration) of the Self, that isn't really what you find on Wikipedia.

It's a game made in RPG Maker, but it doesn't make any sense.
It's hard to understand what's happening on the screen. It looks more like a nonsense glitch than a game itself. There's no concern for making it playable either. And from the RPG Maker files, it seems to be very short. The most interesting thing is to learn more about the author. The game itself doesn't have much value unless you're trying to understand the guy's mind.

Nah I get what you mean, it’s got that "I made this after dreaming in an abandoned church" aesthetic, but it’s so curated it starts feeling like a theme park ride through someone else’s mental breakdown. Like, yes, the walls are bleeding and the NPCs speak only in reversed Latin-that doesn’t automatically make it profound. It’s like they put Inscryption, Hylics, and Yume Nikki in a blender and forgot to add any actual substance. Still, I keep playing it at 3AM for some reason.
