Your argument: adding point and shooty to a moba adds skill expression, despite mobas being a 1 hero unit game (plus summons) from the player perspective, where choosing your location on the map is the key decision.
My argument: the game needs guns because the act of aiming the guns gives you an up close perspective of the player character, combined with a third person perspective allows for better exposure of any cosmetic items, and the only reason why a gun would ever belong in a moba isn't because of skill expression, it's because this game was built from the grounds up to be the next great valve casino, everything else from the movement to the character selection was built around this necessity to overexpose future cosmetics, gameplay be damned.
The game is bitch-made, they make ever adjustment they can to justify having guns, it belongs in a textbook about late stage capitalism, and you're all eating up the slop because you hate individual agency.

I'd send Wukong purely for the novelty of prop hunt, turning into a box and hiding for ambushes, although most of his melee kit wouldn't work and would look dumb with a gun. And Dark Willow because I had a vision about placing thorn traps in 3D space, on ceilings, on walls in blind spots and catching fleeing enemies, and a get-off-me DPS ult like Pocket would be welcome.

I'd send Ivy to Dota with a built in tether like Io, flying vision spell with kudzu harass, stun like Visage, pretty much works perfectly. And Seven, because with balls and built in mael I want to see a dedicated jungler being viable.

I played like 50 or so matches of deadlock over half a year back and gotta say they made some incredible strides since then, the art direction is finally coming together, feels much nicer and faster to play, the map rework is great and the new character all seem very well designed so far.

The only reason that persistent inventory works is if your character can perform the jobs interchangeably well enough between different characters. This has to be true for all characters.

A big part of it is also just game design. Small teams, matchmaking only, removing RNG that help noobs get a kill every now and then so they don't outright quit, etc. But that's what you design when you outsource playtesting to an unpaid audience of over-enthusiastic autists that don't remotely represent the average player

Except you are. By having a infiltration type character in spy, TF2 is always an engagement against hypothetical enemy movement.
In the L4D games, the enemy mob serve as constant distraction for the asymmetric enemy players. The trick is in using the unknown. You'll also notice that these mobs serve a much more active purpose than the creeps in deadlock.
