I’ve seen anons posting themselves shitting all over bosses in NG+, but I think the Zhanlu feather/agility build is 10x faster than anything in those previous .webms. It just melts their HP like it’s nothing and comes fully equipped with utility spells. I just reached Hillswatch in NG+ and have died only once so far, and it’s because I accidentally fell off a cliff.

I don't understand how chinese names work but I assume the first part is the family name and the second part is their actual name. It's similar to practically any other language. When it's a singular name, I don't know why that is but it's not hard to remember the names. The pronunciation is difficult because I don't know the pronunciation but as far as reading the names goes, it's pretty easy to remember.

I hate that 90% of the outfits are ugly as shit and the sexiest one needs you to follow 3 convoluted questlines and thoroughly explore everything to spawn 5 minutes before the game ends.

NTA but the issue for me is properly pronouncing their names. Unfortunately, the English language does a pretty bad job of phonetically matching Chinese pronunciations without having someone explain the differences between:

These are all subtle enough that I have no idea how to distinguish between them when I read them or hear them. My favorite is when Tao Qing mentions the names of the twin priests of Shu Temple. Their names sound pretty much exactly the same but with the subtle phonetic difference that barely matches the way it's spelled in English kek.

Yes, I have that issue as well as I don't speak chinese. I don't play in chinese either but I do my best to pronounce how I think it sounds unless I hear how it sounds. The twins have different names. I don't remember one of their names but obviously we have the Echo of Lu Bingzhang. Since I don't remember the names based off pronunciation, I just remember based on how they're written in english. As I said, I don't even like the way chinese sounds because it sounds like dogshit and I've heard sentences that sounds exactly the same but has like 7 different meanings. Then, if you're the type to explore side areas first you'll find an NPC telling you to go this way for the wedding (not where you are going yet), and finally you'd go down an elevator to a boss room that couldn't be more obvious at the beginning of a new area and turn around to the explore the other route first because apparently you're the type of person who does that in this hypothetical.
You could argue that the bad part of this level is that the boss door isn't locked with the key upstairs somewhere, but you're making a different argument.

It's natural to think there's a boss fight at the top but you can also walk up and literally LOOK to see if that's the case. You walk up and you're greeted with an open door to the left and a closed door in front of you. In the room to left is a locked door and a hallway. It's natural to assume the first closed door leads to a hallway. You open it and bam, a hallway. The other locked door you enter through pulling a lever to which you can then look into the room and see it's not a boss fight. There isn't a single souls game where an elevator leads directly into a boss fight. YOU made a poor decision and think everyone else made that same decision isn't of logically looking at what's around you.

Opening the door after the elevator right away was probably not the best idea. But it's also very standard Souls practice to fully explore the sides before entering the main castle. This doesn't happen. You don't have to summon Nian at all. I know because I did a playthrough without summoning him and finished his quest just fine. You can still get his weapon, you just have to talk to him along the way. You don't have to summon the Elder for Bo Sorceress, you can still fight him. You don't have to summon He Youzai for Bai Kru. The only one I don't know for certain is Huang Jian'e for Fierce Tiger.

It was punishment for messing up a counter or dodge. What you should think when getting knocked down like that and dying, is "I should pay more attention to not get knocked down" instead of whining. If you watch this, towards the end I got knocked down and was able to get up without dying based on the timing I used to get up. I still got hit in the getup animation but I was able to live and defeat Honglan just fine.

What are you talking about? You gain Boldheart stacks from normal attacks. All spear disciplines convert those stacks into Skyborn Might charges at a 2:1 ratio. Steam Chain costs 2 charges and the instant heavy costs 1 charge. If you have at least 3 Skyborn Might charges, you can do it. Aerial Bulwark costs nothing but gives 4 Skyborn Might charges. Spearveil costs 1 charge but gives 2 back if you use it successfully to dodge an attack.

I've beat her with every weapon and the actual fastest way is with Spear. It gives you the most amount of time to attack her. Technically, Ebb and Flow has clash while also staggering on the last hit. Upward Force is just simply too good. You could also use the Zephyr whirlwind to knock her on her ass with 1hand sword but you have to spend more time trying to time it so it actually hits and there's also axe with Rampage. Upward Force is 100% the most reliable and easiest way to create an opportunity to simply attack though. You can even combo this with Steam Chain + instant backstab to do even more. Parrying simply takes far too long and doesn't give you anywhere near as much of an opportunity to attack. Aggressiveness is far more rewarded than patience.

I think the only games that might get away with a formula that is more distinct and sometimes less distinct is when some games are loosely associated with Metroidvania. But I found an interesting gimmick. Twin Bandits' skill is Block, which doesn't use any Might. While you need Might to quick draw that Block skill, it doesn't actually consume any Might. So with 1 Might you can quick draw a block and then quick draw back to your main weapon.

I'm not sure what's the point of the priests beyond "look, those guys who were there IRL are also in the game", there is so little meat to their questline. I guess someone who doesn't know shit about Chinese history could roughly tell the era which the game takes place in thanks to their presence? Funnily they could have gotten a bigger questline ending with them both turning into feathered monsters and the chinks wouldn't have given a single fuck since they weren't precious Han historical figures. Yeah I expected a lot from them after that first meeting, something like summoning them to fight an optional boss at the end of their questline. Then they didn't show up at all in Cloudspire and I started to believe there was a bug or I had missed them but no, that was it. You just have one of them at a Zhenwu Temple shrine and I don't think the other can even be found anywhere before the ferry. Then they're gone.
Like, why weren't you even able to summon one of them to fight the Fierce Tiger boss when it would have made so much sense? Instead it was the temple chick and Nian Suichang (again).

How do I deal with Bu Magus' ultimate attack where she summons a golden sword that explodes? If I try to spam dodge there's still one part of it that one shots me. Doesn't seem hard other than that.

I never managed to get the timing right so here's what I did:

It's really not that hard as long as you understand and use the tools the game give you: free respecs at will so you can experiment as much as you want, skyborn might, tempering mechanic, magic (if you don't want to use offensive magic even the support stuff is really solid), disciplines, swift draw, inner madness...
I'd even say it's worth it to downgrade to 1.4.1 just to make the game harder even if you didn't care about how 1.5 messed with the story.

Here was my strategy the first time I beat him. First phase, I kept my distance to bait his jumping lunge triple attack. Dodge or deflect the first two, it doesn't really matter. But dodge the third to get behind him and get an easy backstab.
In his second phase, do the same, keep your distance to bait his jumping attack. But now, deflect it, because it will stagger him. BUT! If you follow the deflect up with two light attacks, there's a high chance he'll activate his throat slash move, which is perfectly timed to hit you in the middle of the second light attack, before you can dodge. So, instead, follow up deflect with a heavy attack.

That purple status debuff (it’s called corruption, btw) is common throughout the game, so expect to see it a lot. The white-robed guy is an optional boss but honestly, I’d say it’s worth restarting the game to get his quest done. He gives you one of the best talismans in the game. You can always just wait until NG+ to do it again, so it’s not the end of the world.

You have to get Steam Chain to hit but often times if you're spamming him with it, he'll just dodge. Hence, why I died before this run. So, to mitigate that, I used Upward Force to stun him and then used Swift Draw to Steam Chain him since he won't dodge that way. This is on the 1.0 version of the game so I had the slow getup animation, slow healing, and he actually dies on this version.

You REALLY have to utilize skills, ki pulsing, stance changing, and figuring out what works for depleting ki and then doing damage. In Nioh 1, 2kat has a skill that you can use for practically the entirety of of NG that trivializes everything and nothing really blocks against it. It does great damage, great ki damage, and nothing really resists it.

Wo Long is certainly difficult to get into. I've tried it probably like 4 times now and only now is everything just clicking for me. I'm currently playing it and having fun. Once you understand the idea of spamming martial skills and magic while light attacking and throwing some spirit attacks, the fights get really easy. Parrying is also semi-tight but not too hard.
