Playing the Trails in the Sky 1st demo now I'm impressed by how much freedom the game gives you. The moment that the game prompts you to go to the farm, you can backtrack across the entire Rolent region which I don't think was possible in the original.
>You can explore the whole Mistwald forest and get all of the treasure chests early
>You can explore all of Jade tower and fight the monster chests, of course the unique dialogue for reaching the top of the tower is there
>You can go to both army gates and do the NPC banter
It's cool because these areas are intended to be seen when you have Schera along but going there early gives you a tougher challenge and makes you approach fights differently.

Why is it so fucking difficult? Seriously, my party was lvl 9-10, best possible equipment i could buy/find in the demo, from the monster chests even. I had no chance on normal.

Honest question, is this the difficulty i have to expect for the rest of the game or was this one just overtuned? Is the game expecting me to overlevel like crazy or grind for money so i can alway buy the best armor/accessoires or are there things with the battle system i just didnt understand?

I dont know the original but i found the shining poms, there is pretty easy way to get them to spawn, but i didnt find anything useful on them other than that they drop 2 accessoires.
But grinding for levels really puts me off to be honest, i always fight a few enemies on the roads but apparently this is not enough. I have the same problem in Tales games and its seriously annoying. I dont even know what level the game wants me to be since the enemies in the mist wood are 8-9 but the boss battle is impossible, they are HP sponges.

I cant really tell you if i play the right or wrong way. I use everything except items maybe. I heal, i try to stun enemies before its their turn, i try to go for positionals and aim for as many enemies as possible, i explore weaknesses etc. I dont know what it is im doing wrong, hence my question if the boss battle is maybe just fucked.

oof hm, there is an area with a bridge that you cant enter, its the area where you had a quest to train with 2 guards, you run to that area and go a little bit back on the road again, you really dont have to run far at all, with your back to that bridge area on the left side on the road theres a group of shining poms that can spawn and triggering a respawn is pretty easy since you only run 100 metres or whatever back and forth

I did it on nightmare and it was a fun level of challenge. Use Earth Guard, and focus on killing the mooks before the boss, got it first try. The cats in the tower and the chests with bomb enemies were way harder.
I'm just glad a Trails game is actually challenging for once, I hope they don't nerf stuff especially now that they have a really good combat system. Also these games tend to only get easier as you go so the Prologue is probably the hardest part.

Professor Weissmann is the villain, Joshua was part of Ouroboros and Ouroboros are a bunch of saturday cartoon villain and does nothing for the next 14 games.

Something that I Low-key appreciate in this remake is how the character art in the menu actually makes both Estelle and Joshua look like teenagers. You can tell they're 16, they don't look too old or too young, which is not something you see every day in video games.

As a cold-steel chad who bounced off of original sky FC 3 times because of how boring and bad it was, I have to admit this demo was really enjoyable and made me actually like the sky cast for the first time in this series existence. There was a genuine excitement to keep playing this game unlike the original which I just felt like I was forcing myself to play out of obligation.

Graphics no longer look like puke, combat no longer mind numbingly simple, writing no longer cringeworthy tranny fanfiction and is actually based on the original japanese script, no more dogshit hidden quests so you aren't forced to play with a guide on the other screen and have to tab out every other minute to make sure you didn't miss the hidden peepeepoopoo that locks you out of all the end game items for missing it.

Just a genuinely good experience, and if there are any hiccups in the final version it will just mean this game is once again a stepping stone for when they fix them for the real content, Trails of Cold Steel remakes. Thank you sky fags for being the beta testers for when we get true peak back again.

Also Schera is still terrible and so is that ear grating voice actor. I guess even the best of remakes can't redeem what is irredeemable.

I have a suspicion that the reason they're doing this, and the whole reason this remake exists, is because Falcom wants to soft rebrand as a more normalfag-friendly higher-budget JRPG publisher like Square Enix. Because this feels a lot like they're trying to emulate the Dragon Quest remake/remasters. They're obviously trying to draw in a new audience with this remake of the first Trails game, essentially starting from the beginning, and cleaning up all the "problematic" elements they think may offend their new intended audience along the way. Basically, otakus are no longer Falcom's intended demographic. They just use us and then drop us when it's convenient, like everyone else. I thoroughly enjoyed the time I've spent with Falcom games so far, especially Ys VIII which holds a place as one of my favorite JRPGs, but it looks like it's time to abandon ship as Falcom has abandoned me.

Trails in the sky is so good that I am probably going to play this game regardless of any problems just because it literally cant ruin the original no matter how hard it tries for me, however in terms of FF and DQ, its almost nothing alike.
