Look you know how the Sun is relatively good for life but you probably shouldn't leave the Ozone Layer because high energy radiation will kill the sperm you're not using? It's like that. When used by the Planet it can create new life, repair injuries to itself, but that doesn't mean it's going to smack the hand of organisms with a ruler of they get too close to it. Fauna nearby Nibelheim touch Lifestream veins all the time and it turns them feral. Conversely humans can touch it and they can suddenly be flooded by memories from Ivalice or some shit. The Planet doesn't act on specific organisms outside of extreme cases like Jenova or Sephiroth.

In Nibelheim past, the tutorial chapter, Sephiroth slashes Tifa on the chest. Tifa shows the scar to present day Cloud to prove she was there, she knows what happened. Before that Cloud had told his own version of the Nibelheim that contradicted Tifa's memory. It was same in the og that Tifa knew Cloud knew thigns about the nibelheim incident but he wasn't there (Tifa didn't realize Cloud was regular shinra grunt hiding his face with the helmet because he was embarrassed not having made it in Soldier)

What's the deal with everyone calling the planet, the planet? They don't have a fucking name? It being named Gaia is not confirmed to be canon nor is it ever mention in the game or the remake as far as I know. THE PLANET is like one of the most important things about the game, and they have no shortage of silly names for things, like using basic english words like SOLDIER for an elite task force, or WEAPON for a huge ass mako whale, yet not the planet they worship so much. I'm pretty sure they use the word "Earth" when not directly referring to the planet in the remake.
