All of this shit happened in the same year in rapid fire succession, and I only listed the ones relevant to video games in 2020. The suits thought they had a digital gold rush happening before their eyes and were cracking the whip trying to be the ones that capitalized on these new trends, not realizing that making a modern video game takes far longer than any other form of entertainment media. Five years later and nearly all of those things have passed, and most companies have missed the boat, wasting millions or billions of dollars in resources trying to pursue any one of them. And the worst part is, many of them still have to commit and show us what exactly they wasted their time making.

Not exactly a high bar to beat, I mean just look at Japan Studio and Rare. In an alternate reality where they were bought by Nintendo they would still be making Patapon, Banjo, etc.

Instead Japan Studio is dead and Rare's newest games was cancelled after fucking 5 years of devemopment.
