Gameplay wise it suffers from every character having only 1 set of skills so there's only party composition to change and not builds per se. Some gear can be interesting, but eh.
There's 5 chapters total, end of every chapter tends to have some pretty good story imo.

Good animated sidescrollers are the best and only genre of HGames that I actually enjoy and I'm pretty sure I played all of the ones that are actually well made. Like back then you booted this game up and you probably had like 4 or 5 hours in the day to play it and there were no distractions like the Internet or social media or video streaming. I think there should be a blacksmith at the beginning of it who has a request or smth. You can respec as much as you want and there's a training dummy in the church area where you can run dps tests if you want.
Unfortunately dex is king and it's not close. You can play very safe and probably outdps the slower greatswords. Especially if you use dash & jump cancels.

The only quest this game has is the oriental girl that you meet sometimes, if you meet her in all locations she gives you her sword.
Also, for the quest to the guards before the sewer, all you need to do is enter the door they are, jump all the way down and go left, there will be a diary, read it and go back to them, and that is about it for the quest.
The only missable content the game truly has is some rape scenes if you do not find the enemies to get defeated, and some rings and weapons but those do not really matter.
Btw, the final area of the game has some harpy looking enemies, if you are worried about missing stuff just turn back when you see them and explore around.

There is also the women you can save, which gives karma. But karma is only used to open an area with some enemies, a boss and a sword.
