The reason these anime games use gacha monetization is because anime has always been fairly niche. The playerbase is relatively small, so the monetization is based around selling characters and getting a small amount of players to spend big on gambling for characters. That's how these games have survived and made tons of money thus far.

If you remove gacha, then you're directly capping how much players can spend. It's always only a small amount of the playerbase who spends money, so this means your potential revenue can only go down. Live service games like Warframe and First Descendant can get away with this because they aren't anime, so their playerbase is inherently higher, and also because usually their cost in making updates isn't as high (a quick Google Search tells me Warframe has about 250 employees, while an open world gacha like Genshin has 1000+ working on it)

And they won't be able to survive purely on skins either.

I played the latest cbt, I really liked the movement but they have to do something about the combat feedback, one of the starting characters has an ability that lets you dash whilst slashing her sword, it's powerful, like a lot of the skills it displaces enemies and knocks them around but it still feels totally weightless when playing. Sound design, hitstop, not even sure what the main issue is but it's a dealbreaker for me if they haven't done some work on that because it applied to most of the characters I messed around with.

Honestly these games all blend together, the only one that seem original was that horse girl racing but it's a management sim and I don't like those.

I played Wuthering Waves recently and while it's a perfectly decent game with some actual highlights (like the Inferno Rider fight and some companion quests), all of my greentexted grievances weighted down the experience until I uninstalled.

For example pic related, her JP voice, design, animations and writing make her pure sexo, but she's supposed to be a undercover cop, it's silly when every cop in the game is in uniform then this bitch comes out of nowhere looking like a runway model, and yes she's undercover, but nobody dresses like this in the organization she's infiltrated, they all have normal clothing.

You can grind however much you want, you get character thingies from the grind with which you open up specific dungeons that give you the character shards. It's unclear what they mean with dailies/weeklies so far but you can grind endlessly if you have time for both weapons and characters.

Kind of. You can farm character shards without limit while also being able to buy them from the shop. It takes X amount of shards to unlock a character so you can farm as much as you like and if the grind is too much you can supplement it with shards from the shop if you want to spend money.
If you ask me it's better than Warframe because in Warframe if you want to spend money, you have to go all in. In this game you can both grind and spend money in the way that best suits you.

"Commissions" are just the stages. I don't remember what they are called in Warframe but it's when you select what type of stage you want to do, like annihilation or defense or escort or whatever. It's the PGR monetization but even more generous. If you play and do your weeklies and dailies, you're guaranteed all new characters, and if you buy the monthly, you're also guaranteed the weapons, that's the monetization in PGR.
