Yea, so this is almost certainly doing the Silent Hill 2 Remake time loop thing. It has the same actress playing Laura as the game, and in this film she's all bedraggled and ratty and hollow-eyed, probably because this is the fucking hundredth time James has put her through this bullshit.

Remember the photographs in Silent Hill 2 remake? The unexplained ones? You find all those photographs, and you count the number of objects in the photograph, and then take the character from that position.

So for example you have a picture of six windows and the message "SO MANY PEOPLE HERE!". Count six acress, and you get 'Y'.

When you combine all the photographs, it reads out the following message.

"YOUVE BEEN HERE FOR TWO DECADES"

The game always had a retro look, with clothing and fashion always being out of sync. But that requires more work, more budget, and it's easier to sell something modern than a period piece.
