Theres no appeal to it retard because it literally ruins the immersion. Oh yeah its real cool that the norse god that is 8000 years old carries himself like a 45 year old middle aged dad talking about ex wives. Funnily enough this isnt actually intentional, there was no behind the scenes though process that making them talk like Americans would be cool, no, thats just the writing being poor and dogshit.

He is objectively a terrible interpretation and was maybe the worst executed character of the game. Odin is supposed to be this ultra genius mastermind king who wins over everybody with his massive fucking galaxy brain. In the game, he shows up in Kratos's house with his enforcer son, then monologues and runs around offering him a deal, that he would kill Freya (who Kratos likes), in return, all Kratos has to do is let him be. Then when Kratos refuses, Odin sends his lapdog to maul, so that he has alone time with Atreus so that he can manipulate him. None of this is intimidating or smart in any way, he doesn't come off as a library brain mastermind, instead he just comes of as a slimy scheming little jew who throws a tantrum when things dont go his way.
