What you and the rest of the entertainment industry evidently do not understand is subversion is only pleasurable when what it is subverting is the standard, and especially if it is stale. An industry cannot survive on irreverence for long, in order for its juxtaposition to mean anything it cannot be the prevailing framework for well over a decade. All that is to say, Ragnarok's presentation was absolutely predictable and fucking annoying, its attempts at deconstruction were more than anything groan-inducing. Ironically, only midwits would find it to have been deep in any way whatsoever.
